I see newegg has a few for $499, if the market rebounds and coins keep on forking this could be a good buy. any thoughts?

Still buying GPUs at this time? I thought the majority of the people here on the forums were already averse to new mining hardware investments.

Personally, i believe the risk of FPGAs actually doing 14 kh/s as advertised is real and incoming threat to Monero and other cryptonight coins. With the versatility of FPGAs i don't know if the Monero team can simply just fork again to brick the FPGA permanently. It may be just me but i'd rather play safe with mining investments today.

Yes and right now, is a good time to buy coins, not a good time to buy a gpu --> a 700 days roi.

I've heard the Sapphire Pulse ones are good (and much cheaper at the moment). Have been nearly tempted, but ROI is long, even discounting current market desperation.

Price of GPU in the market a little decrease but unfortunately price almost all coin also drowning. if buying now, you could have a problem with ROI.

if you are the most optimistic guy you can imagine, and discount the fact that the market is dead already (and you don't believe this), you can try to by gpus.

But!!! if you plan to buy vegas for ETH, i should tell you that we have already passed the max amount of coins Vitalik said he would allow (100 million), and that, at some point, even tomorrow, can be announced the fork for ETH to PoS and that would absolutely destroy your incomes.

More over, those vegas will be crashed in no more than 6 months, because the new 1180 and 1180ti will be a hashrate hardeners, and probably even my 32mh RX580 will see increased the stale shares a few %

Roi today is a disaster. if you look it this way, you are not winning money till you ROI.

Prices have gone down, because noone is bying GPU's for mining. In the biggest hardware company here in Spain, they've had 3 weeks offers for vegas, 1080's 1080ti with 20 to 30% discount and still have not sold them (6 months ago they would have dissappeared the following day).

So, i do not advice you to do it.

BTC no more than 6k by end of 2019. ETH no more than 300$ by end 2019. Huge market manipulation, huge amount of scammers and hypers.

Even with the FPGAs coming... these profitable vegas will have some resale value especially to gamers (and maybe still miners)

So yes i think it is a good time to buy vegas. HOWEVER it might be even better to invest directly into coins themselves like BTC since usd/btc is at quite a dip right now (seemingly)

Think I might wait til I start seeing $399 prices, picking up some very cheap RX 580s off ebay and rolling the dice on their longevity for now.

The Gigabyte cards are terrible, at least from my experience. Hash low and run hot.

In my rig I have Sapphire’s, MSI’s, and a Gigabyte (all RX 580’s). The Sapphire Nitro+ cards run the coolest and get about 32 MH/s, the Gigabyte runs 15 degrees hotter and the best I could get it to hash was 29.7 MH/s.

There's some pretty damn good deals going for RX 580s right now on Newegg and basically everywhere- I'd suggest looking at Reddit's /r/buildapcsales for news on card deals including Vegas and RX X70/X80 cards, like this MK2 RX 580 8GB on the US Newegg site for $299 + $20 Steam GC. Profitability definitely is dropping right now for GPU mining as a whole, but so are card prices, too. I'm personally not touching GPUs until things get better with profitability, as I see everything as high risk and low reward in GPU mining right now, but it's your call in the end to buy GPUs or not.
