Whats running behind the site besides an automatic response that an altcoin is a shitcoin if its not BTC? If theres nothing then at minimum put some funny jokes or memes as responses, otherwise the idea behind the project is okay but more contentful responses needed.

I'm assuming that there are certain flags on each of the coins, and within those flags is a database of responses that are dependent on whether a coin is (a) a shitcoin, (b) a semi-shitcoin, or (c) not a shitcoin, or something along those lines.
Hahahahaha! This is a brilliant way to collect targeted emails I checked a bunch of my coins and there was one coin under the ''MegaShit'' category. My sentiments, exactly! I know that there really isn't a purpose for this site besides novelty, but it's quite humorous; I've forwarded it to all my crypto friends and they all got a good laugh out of it

Pretty funny, but a little bit annoying that you have to put in the picker and not just the name. Other than that, most of the messages seemed to be pretty spot on I'd just improve on the design a little bit, I think a different color scheme could do wonders already. Hi - thank you! Been a wild 20 hours, we have received a bunch of engagement and will work to add some metrics, and an informative (yet crude/humorous) newsletter. Open to ideas and would like to learn what everyone wants to see. This is the project development thread after all!

Primarily it is by market cap, and we sliced them up based on that, then created responses based on the subset they are in. We now have a growing list of wittier responses based on actual information or community jokes. Meanwhile, we are adding some cool metrics and thinking of features (on top of an informative, yet crude newsletter). Everyone has been pressing to put adwords up, but we think itll take away from the fun and look of things...would much rather build an engaging community. Open to any ideas or suggestions. Cheers! Mike

nice project. it is good for a laugh. although i wished to see all the names, it is missing some of the funny/fuckedup ones such as ANAL which i guess is because you get your list from coinmarketcap if i guessed right. there is also some contradictory results for some altcoins. for instance RDD (Reddcoin) gives you both "HODL" or "It's not Bitcoin, but we're hopeful for the future" but also "That's some solid shit right there" Oh, I see the confusion. Solid shit is good shit Its like mid to top-tier shitcoin, not shit-tier shitcoin. So, congratulations XD

No, if you enter a few you'll see that there are a lot which aren't marked as shitcoin. List of non shitcoins: Monero, Steem, Ethereum, Stellar, Lisk, Zcash, etc. There are more, but I'm not gonna go through all of them Edit: looks like some coins have a randomized message, steem for example.

Nice! Wish I could spit out a website so fast. "Tips" at the bottom is a bit misleading - I thought you were going to give me advice on how to avoid shitcoins. I believe Bitcoin cash is the only shitcoin on the list

More things you might be able to take into account, some might be too far fetched to be tied to a rating or to do automatically.
-network activity (nodes/difficulty/# of daily tx/ etc) -github activity -bitcointalk thread pages/activity -coin distribution (i.e 10 accounts hold >50% of the supply etc) -anonymous or known devs -lifespan of the coin

After a long work day my buddy and I decided to do a fun 1-2 hour project...and this is what came of it: http://www.doiownashitcoin.com/Do you own a shitcoin? Find out. haha Most likely the answer is yes Thought you'd all appreciate *We have been receiving way more engagement than expected, so we added a little mailing list for a monthly letter to go out. Let us know what you think, or if you have any funny responses for specific coins. lol Thanks, Mike What sites or algorithms you used, when you create this site? So, what parameters should a coin have, that not to fall into the list of shitcoin? And another thing (it's a pity, but...) - you can make money, even it's a shit coin.

Great feedback, I'll add this to our list. We plan on adding some metrics and features to show stats on coins, as well as potentially a voting up/down system. Also will be starting an informative (and funny) newsletter Again, appreciate the feedback and always open to more suggestions. Cheers, Mike

Maybe we should gather all emails of shitcoin developers and use that lol.

If I'm being honest, when I considered how this was done, I told myself these exact words: "I could just look at the source code, but I'm too lazy. I hope LoyceV or DarkStar_ sees this thread; once they do, they'll break it down for sure" OP, why don't you use market depth to gage and select the results, instead of market cap? (Shameless plug)

More things you might be able to take into account, some might be too far fetched to be tied to a rating or to do automatically.
1-network activity (nodes/difficulty/# of daily tx/ etc) 2-github activity 3-bitcointalk thread pages/activity 4-coin distribution (i.e 10 accounts hold >50% of the supply etc) 5-anonymous or known devs 6-lifespan of the coin
1. doesn't show much though. there have been shitcoins in the past that had a huge network activity at times. 2. it is a better criteria but not the easiest to measure. 3. not good at all. i can create a shitcoin do a giveaway and get a lot of newbie idiots to spam hundreds of pages in that thread. that doesn't make that shitcoin any better 4. this is good if you can measure it but since there are not "accounts" in cryptocurrencies you will have a hard time finding them properly. some coins are easier than others but some devs knew how to cover their tracks! 5. doesn't matter at all 6. doesn't matter much. there are shit/dead-coins that have been around for years and there are good projects that are young.

(Shameless plug)The massive amount of engagement we received is unexpected, but humbled by it. Now that we understand how seriously people are taking this, we plan on incorporating more metrics...market depth is another good one, in addition to github stats perhaps, number of nodes, anon dev or not, and more. We can get creative. Earlier in the thread someone mentioned statistics similar to these as well. Ultimately we plan to start showing some metrics and thinking of fun features. We can show rankings of shittines or not-shittiness of coins haha Going to start a newsletter as well which will be informative and still have our humor. We can turn this in to some 'serious shit' lol Appreciate the suggestion - always open to more feedback.
