There's no connections between this world cup and crypto, there will be one day on future when we start to see crypto commercials and crypto advertising on stadium's. It's not cheap to advertise company on world cup, or to be one of official sponsors, some crypto company or some coin will start to invest money in that sector eventually.
Now world cup is for people to watch football and bet on it, big money is in that but fiat money. One day crypto will get into it, but that will not happen this year.

World Cup has absolutely zero effect on Bitcoin's price. Newbies should take as a rule of thumb to never tie any news to Bitcoin's price, unless those news involve Bitcoin directly, like if some important country changes its legal status. Theoretically, some news like signs of upcoming worldwide economic collapse or a big war could affect prices, but we haven't seen anything that big yet, since Bitcoin created after the last global economic crisis.

I thought that it will have a positive impact on bitcoins value but rather what I am expecting is the opposite. The good news brought about by the acceptance of bitcoin by the world cup football 2018 is being stomped by the negative news. The investigations done on the 4 big exchanges and the hacking of a big exchange have more power than the football case. I guess we will just wait and see and hope for bitcoin to recover.
