To me NEM seems like a copycat scam. Anyone can just copy the code of NxT and then use it to their advantage. After all the NEM coins are "equally distributed", who would be dumb enough to buy in, thus increasing the value?

They just make silly attempts to ruin the image of Nxt. Clones are useless because they can't copy transparent forging. Anyways, soon they will give up and buy Nxt themselves http://bitcoinmagazine.com/9826/nxt-proof-stake-new-alternative-altcoin/

Seeing as NxT copy every feature that eMu bring to the development table, so if we go with your logic - then the NxT you are defending is actually also a copy cat coin?
Just making sure that i'm not the only one that feels NxT hasn't got even one single unique feature that eMunie hasn't had in beta for a few months already.

It's going to very interesting to see.
Look what happens with the value of worthless clones, some still have value while offering nothing new. With FAR less of a community than 1000+ to start!!

Even if it's only middling in terms of innovation, and we won't know about that for quite a while, the distribution model is very attractive to people looking to buy in. Initial distribution will become an increasingly important factor.
I don't begrudge Bitcoin early adopters at all. I'm a bit less enamoured with how NXT came into the world.

I'm sure there are plenty of fakes and shills on the list. However I am confident that it's a little more than 70 people or so.
Hit us up with some evidence. I'm curious.

There are more than ~70 involved in Nxt now. I know that some major shareholders sold their Nxt very early for 1 btc per 1,000,000 Nxt. Now there are over 24k accounts. The only reason there were only ~70 original investors is because few people were interested. Once people saw the return people got from investing in Nxt, they started clones of Nxt hoping for a similar return. Some of these clones were highly fraudulent and the majority were just scams. NEM's distribution is flawed because of sockpuppet accounts. It's my opinion that you would do better off with Nxt than with Nem, but that's a decision individuals should make for themselves. I'm just letting you know what I know. There are some charts regarding Nxt's current distribution posted in the main Nxt thread. I'm not sure what page they are on but if you search you will find them. Nxt is now more distributed than even Btc.

I see no innovation or advantages to Nem. Bitcoin has less than a 1% market share of the financial market (realistically still 0%). For as big as it is, it isn't even a force yet. For new people that want to invest in cryptocurrencies, which will basically be everybody if cryptocurrencies actually get a real market share, Bitcoin is the first place they look, but the concept of miners might leave a bad taste in their mouth compared to the NXT approach of forging and being environmentally friendly. But then they hear that NXT was started by 70 some odd people (maybe if there weren't double accounts) or they hear about NEM, which is in most ways fairly similar, but has thousands of original investors from countries all over the world, and has PoS/PoI instead of just PoS where the rich get richer.

Nevertheless you appear to be keeping your options open by not objecting to your name being reinstated on the NEM stakeholders list For some reason, despite keeping your own options open, you are advising people that they should make a choice between NXT and NEM. Personally I support both and see no inconsistency in doing so.

Nobody is seriously going to copy Nxt until the broken parts are fixed.
What's broken? The account key is too short! The block hash key is too short! The block hash is not safe from quantum computing! The secret pass phrase is too easy to crack! The genesis account has already been cracked! There is no explicit linking between transactions.
It is unfortunately fundamentally broken.
Anyway, I look forward to clones that fix the problems.

Nobody is going to copy NxT because there are purposely laid traps in the open source code. So a mere copy and paste would lead to a highly exploitable coin. It would take a real developer to copy NxT, not some cheap copy and paster, like 99% of alt coins. Also, the genesis account was meant to be cracked. It was already emptied long before it was cracked. It was purposely made difficult enough so that it would be safe during distribution, but easy enough to crack later on. It actually was a very interesting qoute, the first line of 1984. Very meaningful when considered in context. It reads, "It was a bright cold day in April, and the clocks were striking thirteen." Also, this passphrase was a very well known text. Very easy to crack, but a well designed pass phrase is impossible to crack even if every computer on Earth was programmed to hack it. Seriously.

+1 if i had made a "2nd gen" coin and give them to the people living in my building it would have been more fairly distributed; so i'd say yes. I think everyone here saw that u are really "2Kool4Skewl" (awesome nick btw). I assume ur happy making big money with ur 200$ investment ? such genius. i wish nem succeed finding every sockpuppets accounts, i took myself a share hoping it will be better distributed. And if it fails, i'll be donating those coins as i've done with my nxt. FAPFAPFAP
