Hey new to this, but I have a 1070 that gets 31mh/s while mining etherium through ether miner. That being said, I recently bought 2 1060 and was looking to plug them to risers but once i have them plug up the gpus have power and fans start turning now the problem is that my system is not recognizing either one through device manager. also once i have that problem solved does anyone know how to setup the bat file for multiple gpus on ethminer once i have the other problem addressed? Thanks for any input.

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Code:
setx GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR 0
setx GPU_MAX_HEAP_SIZE 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
ethminer -U -S us2.ethermine.org:4444 -O <eth-address>.<rigname> --cuda-grid-size 8192 --cuda-block-size 128

Should work with/without the setx GPU stuff but you can try both.

As far as the GPU fan/power issues... like other say: try one card at a time to see which card seems to have the problem.  Risers, in my experience have a 10 to 20 percent fail rate... well, that's not empirical by any stretch but it's fair to say risers are often times Dead on Arrival.  PSU issues are also common.  What size/rating PSU are you using?  750 Gold?  I think that' would be the minimum I would go with for your setup.

are you using powered risers?  are the powered risers plugged into a sata or molex 12v power connector.  What riser are you using?  I can't remember exactly but I know there is a certain version that is supposed to work better for the USB risers.  I want to say something like revision 6.  There are some posts on amazon about it.

this one seems to have good reviews for version 7 https://www.amazon.com/AAAwave-Version-Powered-Adapter-Extension/dp/B074GCCD8M/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1529353334&sr=1-1&keywords=usb+riser+version+6

Is that like what you are using?  I think they all have issues from time to time regardless of the version.

But yeah... is that power connection connected?

I remember using non-powered risers even in 1x slots but maybe that was because the card was a 750ti.  But seems I had the same for some 280x... that part was always weird/tricky sometimes that power had to be connected and sometimes it doesn't matter.  I think I even have mixed powered/non-powered risers working for my 1070/1080/1080ti mixed rig... I would have to look closer and I think it also depends on the motherboard.  My Asrock btc-pro doesn't seem to care and that thing has been running for years.  But I definitely have to have all powered risers with power connected on my Asus B250.

But... if you only have 2x risers to work with... well... I wouldn't be surprised if they were both bad.  I've seen it happen before.  As soon as I find a bad riser it goes in the trash.  not a good time for being a packrat unless you think you can repair it and even then keep it well separated.

Oh, and I think you should be fine with your 1000w PSU

Depending on the motherboard you have, you need to change Pcie lanes to X1 from Auto which is default on different motherboards. That is more common with Gigabyte and Asus motherboards. If it recognises the 1070 so should with 1060 if the cards are working.

Also the best risers so far are the version 009s.

It's also possible caused by your bad riser.
You can debug it one by one to really see what's the real problem is before you get your hand dirty on the software part.
Some cheap riser sometime causing more problem than the hardware itself.

suspect first the riser or power config, and second the bios settings.

I only have had one board so far that has needed special attention to the bios when you add a second or third video card (riser, or not).

I think it's a riser because I heard some riser won't work in 1060 gpu so you must use a latest version of riser.
Also check the power cable if its fix to your 1060 and check the driver if there's indicator yelow caution you should install a right 1060 driver so that you 1060 will work fine but my guess it's only your riser I am using ver. 009 and hope this riser will work.

Ok thanks all for your inputs, had to go into bios and set up the board for pci 1x, its reading the cards now, Need some other information now though please. 1. Can I use my 1070 8gb and the 2 1060s 3gb to mine together? 2. If so how would i setup the bat file? btw  not sure if it matters but I am running Window 10 64 bit.

Currently with just the 1070 mining this is my bat file.
setx GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR 0
setx GPU_MAX_HEAP_SIZE 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT 100

ethminer.exe --farm-recheck 200 -U -S eth-us-east1.nanopool.org:9999 -O wallet.worker/email

1.) 1070 8gb and the 2 1060s 3gb can mine together.
2.) Bat file should look the same as with only 1070.

Don't forget to overclock/undervolt 1060 and you are ready to go.
You can expect lower hashrate on 1060 3gb if you have Hynix memory, ~20mh/s on ETH.
If you have Samsung memory, you can get 23-24 mh/s if overclocked properly.

Alright... looks like you are getting closer.  Yeah, the bios settings for 1x... of course.  And sometimes it gets finicky about gen1/2 speed stuffs too for the pcie slots.

For your bat file, try adding --opencl-device 0,1  at the end like this:

Code:
setx GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR 0
setx GPU_MAX_HEAP_SIZE 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT 100

ethminer.exe --farm-recheck 200 -U -S eth-us-east1.nanopool.org:9999 -O wallet.worker/email --opencl-device 0,1,2

That would get you 3 cuda (Nvidia) devices.  if you needed four of course it would just change to --opencl-device 0,1,2,3
