I found a fix for me that took the following steps:
1. Backup the wallet.dat file in C:\Users\(username)\%appdata%\FryCoin (this is a hidden folder you can find by enabling the show hidden folders option in map options)
2. Delete the entire folder for frycoin in  %appdata%\FryCoin
3. Open the new Frycoin wallet (a new %appdata%\FryCoin folder will be created)
4. Close the wallet totally
5. Go to %appdata%\FryCoin and create a new txt file called frycoin.conf with the following nodes (the conf has to be instead of *.txt. If you cannot change it to this you have to enable windows to do it http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/file-names-extensions-faq#1TC=windows-7):
