The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

I am in the same boat to the tune of BTC2.3. Ref: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=450097.0

https://blockchain.info/tx/8004833ae73e3cd621868074a5f3183702acb93921bd48b1f71b9fade962eaab

I can't believe he has scammed me, as he says he needs more time to check his mining rig. I have offered to cancel our contract.

Slapdash, yes. Defensive, yes. Poor technical skills, maybe.

Scammer? Well, he's traded with a few forum members now, who have his address, so it is in his best interest now to pay the op and refund me.

LOL

Lot of people don't want to use escrow because the 1% fee (or whatever) is too much I guess.

Recommended Exchanges: Binance.com | CelsiusNetwork
GPG ID: 4880D85C | 1% Escrow | 8% IPO/ICO Escrow services Temporarily Closed | Bitcointalk is the ONLY place where I use this name (No Skype/IRC/YIM/AIM/etc) | 13CsmTqGNwvFXb7tD9yFvJcEYCDTB8wQTS | Beware of these SCAM sites! | *Sponsored Link

I was blindsided by my own greed and this:

Welcome to my second hardware lease of the week, this time up for grabs is a ~320GH/s KNC Saturn for a 90 day term.

Since I do not pay electricity costs (much to the dismay of my landlord I'm sure) I am offering this lease at a rate that is equitable for both parties, I get instant capital which will be used to buy additional hardware, you get a steady income of coins which total significantly more than the investment by the end of the lease.

normally of course I'd use escrow, it's often free or for tips. this deal seemed to preclude it. I should have just ignored it.

Wow - Looks like I dodged a bullet on this one.  Almost agreed to a 30-day with him, but I didn't have the coin at that precise moment.

It appears His Noodly Appendage was wrapped around me last night / this morning....
