At least he's got balls putting his voice out there. And he clearly is passionate, but I do not think he's the best spokesperson for bitcoin, and that's perhaps why some media outlets wants him to speak about bitcoin..

But as a community we cannot decide who can speak about bitcoin, and who cannot. He's got his face and identity out there, while most of us sit here semi-anonymous and deliver criticism, I guess that any of us, if we wanted to could take on a more active and public role for bitcoin if we wanted to do that.

But some of the things that he says is a bit far out, and also he's not coherent in all his line of thought, and his presentation is not very professional, so perhaps the image BBC wants to portray is that bitcoin is run by a gang of punks and not to be taken seriously?

Surely there are more professional and knowledgble people in the UK to talk about bitcoin?

There most certainly is. But what do you want to do about it? Complain to BBC? Contact Amir?

The only way I see you could do anything about it if you really wanted to, was to do something actively to condone other spoke persons you think fits, or do it yourself.

I think many agree with your position, but unless we actively do something about it, nothing will happen.

I agree this wasn't his best interview (quite bad actually) but that's because his angle of bitcoin is 'all encompassing' and the interview was too brief for him to be able to explain them in enough detail to make sense.  His views are passionate and include politics and the greater revolutionary implications for society.  His thoughts were clearly 'bottlenecked' here, he had to explain too much in too short a time without having thought up a concise explanation in advance.  I think he should have taken control of the interview and simply requested to talk about bitcoin rather than having to receive questions and adapt his answers to them.

This is a much better video of Amir giving an excellent talk on bitcoin:
He does know what he is talking about and can give great talks about bitcoin, he just messed up the BBC one imo.

He did quite well and if you notice his earlier interviews you can clearly see he is improving.
He represents a bit of the rebellious side of btc and that is valid.
Of course the mainstream love that as it is used as a means of discrediting BTC.

I wouldn't worry though, at this point BTC is growing and "meme"ing to the masses.
Any news is good news. This is less about BTC succeeding and more about this
Movement, of sorts, maturing and going forward.

The question is, can they stop our momentum, the blockchain tech as Amir said?
I don't think/feel so.

Also, there is a part of Amir that touches that part beyond logic, in each of us.
That passion comes through and touches people beyond the mind.
The unquantifiable heart...

Its about sharing.

BTC = Black Swan.
BTC = Antifragile - "Some things benefit from shocks; they thrive and grow when exposed to volatility, randomness, disorder, and stressors and love adventure, risk, and uncertainty. Robust is not the opposite of fragile.

Why does he dress like a scruffy tramp if he so many bitcoins?

Im from the UK and agree, hes embarrassing, he may be a great coder, if so he needs to concentrate on that and let the people who are better at pr and communication do their stuff, like Andreas.

I thought he did a great job of talking about the root of Bitcoin and the opportunity it provides us.

Just because it wasn't the usual tedious soundbite and traditional chatter, it seems to have turned some people off.

I'd much rather see more of him than less. Talking of Bitcoin in simple ways that a lot of people do is frustrating. Amir gets it and does well to communicate that complexity.

What would you prefer.. another suit looking like a bankster!?

"The mind is the measure of the man"   -  and Amir has a wonderful one.

Those of you worried about your investments need to start showing a little respect IMHO - and realise that you'd have fuck all in the first place if it wasn't for the likes of Amir.

Speaking of the UK, does anyone know who the "London Whale" is? I heard a brief radio interview with him a while ago about bitcoin.

Yes, because professionals dress smart.

lol wtf

Well I'd rather have content and depth then some airhead who looks pretty.

Professional by what standard?.. Banksters dress smart and what have they given us?.. a wrecked economy but it's ok because they look nice. Do you judge your politicians on how they judge too??

Ok, so who are bitcoin's spokes persons in London? Amir, Max and Stacy? Maybe this ranting is just a cultural thing there? I would be happy to have some locals here in Chile being interviewed on national TV on bitcoin and we are still in the phase where all mass exposure gives us visibility and both a clown blatantly lying about bitcoin or some professor giving financial advice to buy in will give us visibility with people who never heard a thing about bitcoin before and can't do any real harm.

Off topic but that's probably JP Morgan's empty offering.
