Amir is one of the best spokes person for this freedom movement till date.

I don't see anything wrong with this interview, actually I am impressed that he get to speak about these things on mainstream media.

Amir, if you are reading this, then I just want to tell you to not pay much attention to the people that do not understand your words, and keep up the good work, hope to meet you one day!

i heard amir lost all his bitcoins. Sad

amir is clearly losing it.

is he on drugs? because he looks completely fucked up.

not a great spokeperson for bitcoin.

Jeeze, I've never heard of this guy before, but watching that was extremely awkward and he doesn't look well. Maybe he's just not a confident speaker and was pretty anxious, but either way it was a very rambling and incoherent presentation.

With 5000+ posts, if you never heard of this guy, maybe you should listen more and talk less.

As much as I should hate the guy, I can agree with everything he said.

It is not what he said but how he said it, ah

and how can you bring up an example of a 9y old setting up a gambling site? come on, even it is possible, you are not mentioning this on the bbc news talk in regards of bitcoin,
really bad PR, really bad

he could have come up with a great answer regarding anonymity as well, as BTC is not 100% anonymous, you can track transactions, and if you wanna spend your money, you eventually have to surface your identity in some form. Would have been a really nice answer and people would see btc much more serious than a very badly dressed guys tool to express freedom.

The Blockchain fixes some of the inherent corrupt practices of our monetary system.

Its not about making things 'equal' as in resource distribution. But more as in 'equal access' to capital so that whoever wants to sell something and as long as there is someone to buy it, then you create a free market. A removal of the middle man will allow much more friction-less transactions. In that kind of a decentralized world, capital will find the best uses through open decentralized exchanges. Some people may value wars more, some removing poverty. The idea of how to allocate resources won't be decided by a few bankers, but by a more open decentralized, freer and a more democratic society.

Amir was alluding to these issues. And given the constraints, I think he did a pretty good job.

 Cheesy

LoL at "removal of the middle man".

Before Bitcoin:

Bank -> Exchange Market -> Bank

After Bitcoin:

Bank -> Exchange Market -> Blockchain -> Exchange Market -> Bank.

Howbout fuck your bank and I don't use fiat currency, period?

The catchphrase on Blockchain.info should be the rallying cry of bitcoin--"Be your own bank."

Hey numbskull, someone needs fiat currency to obtain BTC. Did you even know that?

Hey numbskull, if I decide right now to never touch another piece of paper money in my life, I'll still get filthy fuckin rich!

Anybody stupid enough to hold their wealth in paper is too stupid to be getting involved in bitcoin anyway.

Did it occur to you that some people have their savings in gold, and that you can exchange gold for bitcoin directly?

Did it occur to you that some people have businesses and accept bitcoin as payment, but then DON'T go trade the bitcoin out for paper, instead use it to PAY EMPLOYEES and BUY SUPPLIES and ORDER DINNER and PAY RENT and all the other stuff that you foolishly do with paper money?

A properly secured wallet with bitcoin is in my opinion the safest, most secure, best all-around bet for holding wealth at this moment in history. Go ahead, call me crazy. They've been calling me crazy since 2013.

Im from the UK and agree, hes embarrassing, he may be a great coder, if so he needs to concentrate on that and let the people who are better at pr and communication do their stuff, like Andreas.

So much for the free speech, your percieve your  investment is at risk, so lets stop people from talking, like a dictator.

1) Amir has previously stated he does not have many bitcoins
2) Its not about free speech, its about representation. He is being portrayed by the BBC as someone who represents the Bitcoin community. But clearly based on the views in the thread, many people do not believe he is representative of us. No-one wants to shut him up, plenty of what he says is what many here believe. The problem is the professionalism and image he is portraying. It allows middle class British people (BBC News target audience) to neatly box up Bitcoin into the anti-establishment, hippy, anarchist type container, without making them think about what it really means. It therefore strengthens their prejudices and existing beliefs.
I am not blaming Amir here, he is doing his best and being true to what he believes. The fault lies with the bias in the BBC's reporting.
My other point, expressed earlier in the thread, is that I believe the BBC is not ignorant of this bias, so they are either negligent in their task of finding additional spokespeople, or the bias is by design.

It's just ridiculous that some people waste time worrying about what other people are wearing, it seems that they are locked inside this tiny box being tought worthless values. When I see a bunch of people going to work in suits, I picture a bunch of sheeps.

He can wear what he wants or go dressed like a drug-addled tramp, just as long as he doesn't come off as one. It's not how he looks or what he wears but the the way he acts and the content of his words. If you had no idea what Bitcoin was, you still wouldn't after watching that and the few other videos of him I've seen.

What he said seemed pretty coherent. No, he didn't give a beginners talk on what Bitcoin was, but he did talk about how it can change society and where the problems are.
We each add our individuality to things, and I really like where he is coming from. No, I wouldn't want him to be our spokesperson, but being decentralized, I
would hope we never have one...

Its about sharing

I liked he's talk.
Of all the suits talking about bubbles and Ponzies, this guy walks and talks like someone who actually need bitcoin for more than just a short term investment.

That said, my guess is that BBC is trying to give bitcoin a bad name with this interview.
Nobody ever said that bitcoin was immune to speciffic goods, whether it be drugs or unhealthy Coca Cola.

Well yeah i dont mind the way he dresses altough he probably could have dressed better but also i dont like the way he speaks ideologically about BTC, BTC is stupid money and investment, thts all!! MAJORITY of people simply OMG (!!!) doesnt care about some stupid ideals, freedoms, "banksters" blah blah blah... and it is the majority of people you will HAVE to target if you want a bigger adoption of bitcoin, so get used to, get over it, and think of better strategy to target your group (majority of people, for example he should simply said that BTC advantages):

- No inflation
- "Safe heaven" in case of huge price inflation of national currencies (see Argentina)
- Good investment (so far)
- Good way to send currency worldwide, from USA to europe or from Kenya to Arctica...
- Fucking quick, instead of day or even DAYS (!!) waiting to get your money, you have it in a matter of minutes (worldwide).
- Low transaction fees (sent milions worldwide for a fraction of a penny).
- Liberalitionalize entrepreneurship
- Makes sending small ammounts of money possible (charity (if interested anyways)).

These are the points (!!!). OMG not some stupid promoting of freedom, or bashing the banksters (omg what a stupid term anyway) (!!!) or rumbluning about some stupid abstract stuff, if he likes that he should go to some philosophical or social, psychological college and give a presentation there on the subject.

BTW im really curious, for those of you familiar with MBTI tests (google it). What type of personality do you think he is? I would say INTP, might be also INTJ or INFP but i really think hes INTP (google MBTI+INTP).

what do you think is he really INTP?

Oh... did i hurt your ideals by saying they are stupid and dont have any place in bitcoin? (which they dont if you want to bring BTC mainstream), and yes, whole mbti thing is much more interesting than what Amir said, you obviously dont know anything about it, and just feeling hurt :-(. Dont get me anybody wrong, i dont have anything against Amir, i find him quite interesting he is just talking nonsense for the "folk" people.

I can't stand the guy. He majorly contributed to losing me 50 bitcoins when he leaked the bitcoinica source code and it was hacked (another time) after he did so. And no, you didn't hurt my feelings. But whatever you wrote up there seems to be not even a reliable or proven scientific method. No hard feelings that I don't care about what either Amir says or what psychological theories you have on the guy.

Keep up the Great work Amir.
