The problem i got with myself was i was thinking about 5 min how to do it !

First i thought to report it and it gets moved from a mod but i choosed the the second thought i got and has written in one thread there to move it.
Never was thinking that this will happens straight after i have written there and in the mean time i reported the other one.
And exactly in this time he changed it to english 

So i shooted me self in the feet.

I know that a few users have contacted via personal messages in the past, and I planned on finding these while I reduced my personal messages by deleting non important ones, but it got tedious real quick so my inbox & outbox is just going to remain like it is. Therefore, if you have translated this in the past send me another message, and I'll list all the translations in the OP as long as they're of good quality, and I'll likely message other local users to verify that for me.

I might work on a Spanish translation if that hasn't already been done. I've totally forgotten those of you who approached me.

Ah, but it has … on a warm summer 2018 day, a (probably) Full Member translated it on the Spanish local board … now if you wish to go ahead with a Spanish translation, I’m pretty sure that the OP (translator) of [Guía] Cómo reportar de manera efectiva would gladly demote his translation in favour of the original OP (somehow) …

Note: the translation seems not to have been reviewed since it was made. If you think it requires to be revised, I’m sure the translator can try to budge some time in for it.

I think I vaguely recall this full member asking me too. What can I say 2018 was a long time ago Its a better Spanish translation that I could have provided, and I would have likely contacted you, and other users of the Spanish section to review it anyway. Saves me some work!

Yes i agree on that and it also would be helpful for other Users too,
Maybe its possible it will animate some Users to hit the report to moderator button.

I've been wanting to rewrite the guide ever since I became a moderator with some more information that I've learned from experience. This was written when I wasn't a moderator, and only had one side of the view point. Unfortunately, this year has been kicking my butt, and haven't had as much time as expected. You'll see my activity be somewhat sporadic over the last few months due to various worldwide events as well as personal.

I'm hoping by the end of the year (I know) to have rewritten this guide, and figure out how to make it very useful, but still condensed enough that users don't just ignore it. I'm not happy with the content currently, but I know that I have a tendency to not be concise enough. So that's going to be a challenge for myself. Though, I think the final product will be more worthy to sticky than its current version. Although, I'm not sure how beneficial it would be to most users on Bitcointalk so not sure it even justifies a sticky.

This thread is really need by the forum right now because there are many unnecessary or so called shitpost. So for others to help the community, we should start reporting every spamming activity that we see. However, in order not to abuse the system we should have guidelines in reporting. And this is really helpful to have standards in reporting.

Yeah, I haven't kept track of translations, so I'm unsure if there's already a Filipino translation of this thread, but if there isn't then I have no problem with anyone translating the thread. If you do translate the thread, just send me a link, and I might put together a list of all translations when I come to update the original post, and make sure I message the translation creators for any future updates I make. I've said a few times, but I've got a revision of the thread on the back burner at the moment.

I’ve been reporting quite a few post’s recently and this guide is VERY useful - I now know the best format to report posts and to make life easier for the mods ! Apologies if my reporting hasn’t been descriptive enough .

I'll be looking to add a section to this to explain why ignored reports happen, and give specific examples as to why they happen. I think ignored reports brings up controversies, and can be quite difficult to understand, but sometimes leaving a report ignored, is the best way of handling it. I'm sure some users might find that helpful. Any other ideas to flesh out this guide that you'd like to see?

I've also changed the title to "Unofficial Guide", because I don't want this to appear as the officially accepted way of reporting. As all staff might not agree with my advice. This is very much my take on reporting effectively.

No worries, glad you're finding use of it. Its not too big of a deal to have no description in some cases, but for more complex cases it is definitely appreciated. It is definitely good practice to include as much information as possible, since what might be immediately obvious to you, might not be to the moderator reviewing the report.

Partially revamped. This is the first update in a long while. I've edited out anything outdated / not working such as broken images. I'm in the process of gathering and annotating images. Including some GIFS to show the reporting process, however will need to edit it and censor anything to keep it privacy focused.  

I'm hoping to bridge the ever increasing gap between moderators and the general community. I think there's been some hostility and misunderstandings that I can potentially clarify that might help in the future.  The idea is to get more users reporting, but also see how WE can improve our moderation, so always willing to listen to feedback, I don't care how critical it might be.

Current images were slapped together so some inconsistencies if you like uniform / symmetrical images. Maybe, it'll be fixed eventually. If anyone wants to screenshot and do it themselves, feel free and send it over.

Also added some tongue in cheek recruitment poster. Sorry, its AI slop, but it adds some colour right?


Planned additions:

• Report flow chart (thought process including complex reports)
• Explaining unhandled reports
• Explain why clear cut ban worthy users aren't banned immediately
• Renew some of the older content towards the bottom
• General formatting / explanation improvement
• GIFS of the process of reporting / accessing related pages
• Explanation of the tools available to moderators / what we see
• Potentially approach suchmoon for editing the "One-click mod report" extension, and adding shortcuts that correspond to this topic or maybe exploring a custom userscript for this purpose.
• brief mention of Mitchell's MindlessElectron account
• Include custom patrol links for filtering certain boards
• Read all the replies again and see if any decent suggestions weren't implemented (add to this list if so or just implement them)  
• AI content explanation, examples and tools to aid reporting

Occasionally i mention AI scanner result posted on thread AI Spam Report Reference Thread when mass reporting a spammer. How much it actually help or useful when reporting possible AI generated spam?




I know it's not really related with this thread. But on few occasion, i notice few report marked as bad while also deleted by moderator (based on modlog) when i mass report a spammer. Is it right to assume that moderator set wrong status by mistake or changed their mind?

Without knowing the exact context its hard to say. However, reports which were good being marked bad do happen on occasion. I've done it, multiple times. I imagine most staff have done it at least once if not more. We handle a lot of reports at times, so sometimes our brain jumps off the rails.

It could be that the particular post you reported, they didn't agree with, but then the actual topic was removed for a different reason.

It could also be a difference of opinion of moderators. Maybe, the one reviewing marked it bad, but then later some mod happened upon it or it got reported again and that moderator thought it warrant an action i.e deletion / removal.

While I don't think this is the case for yours, if the topic is self moderated, a post is reported and marked bad, but the owner of the self moderated topic deletes it after the report was marked bad.

Another reason could be; "Multiple posts in a row within 24 hour period", which might not be true and therefore the moderator took that literally and marked it bad, but then they might have got rid of it for another reason like being low quality. I don't tend to do this, I usually mark something good if I've been alerted to the post by your report, even if you reported it for another reason. I feel like this is done in good faith for those who take the time to report. I have definitely had this happen to me in the past though, I reported for a specific reason that the staff user didn't agree with and then took action for another reason.

I'll include something like this in the OP eventually. I'll have to brainstorm all the reasons this could happen.
