Is this because of the amount of people who are mining?
Yet i see many people starting up am i missing something here?
What about using using a miner to go after litecons or something else?
Another question is if your not mining then what else is there to do to get into bitcoins?
In the past, people mined bitcoin using CPUs, and then GPUs, and now some specially designed ASICs (that is designed solely for sha256 calculation).
As a result, the network hashrate is skyrocketing...

Apart from buying bitcoin directly, or get some bitcoin from mining, you can sell your goods (GPU, T-shirt, etc) and services (sig ad, FB likes, programming, translation, etc.) in bitcoin.
