Hi im debating buying the Antminer Z9 mini second batch. Do you guys think its worth it if i buy a 420 USD coupon for 100 USD +- and get the miner for 591 USD including shipping, excluding local taxes ? If i buy it im planing to overclock it aswell, and im aiming for 16000 sols.  I know the difficulty will probably shoot trough the roof in a month or two, but on the other side the price of the Antminer is pretty cheap with the discount ?

So what do you guys think ?  Huh

One is sure, do not buy Antminer B3

I know that my 4x Antminer B3 earning is today  12-13 BTM =4.44 USD what is 1.11USD per miner and it's all and it goes for  paying  electricity.

Bitmain sold it for  1875 USD, shipped 1-10 may
https://shop.bitmain.com/product/detail?pid=00020180424165031060prOryiaX0729
batch2 for 1588 USD shipped 11-20 may
https://shop.bitmain.com/product/detail?pid=00020180502135225326on3p022D0647

and in less than two months he will not even earn back electricity costs.

If you got a batch 1 miner for the same price bitmain charged or near the same price, sure, but risk of not breaking even by December is high due to bear market conditions right now.

Batch 2 and 3 are unknowns and anyones guess right now.

(Conspiracy Theory) I believe Bitmain is strategically expiring most of their coupons currently in circulation ahead of the Z9 (Big) announcement and Batch 2-3 Z9 Mini buyers likely going to get the shaft because of it is my bet.

DISCLAIMER: I have no inside information on what is coming in the future, just reading into what I see happening and taking the most logical guess.

As of yesterday, I mined $25usd of ZCL after the $1/day electricity cost with a single z9 @ 650mhz.

Assuming there's a price rise in crypto across the board similar to the rise in difficulty, that's still paid off around the end of september, early october. Once batch 2 ships late august, september could see below average returns, extending that out to maybe november, but we should be seeing much better crypto prices by then as well.

So to me "worth it" can be defined as anyone who thinks getting their money back in 4 months is ok.

740 USD will be the total including taxes. Today a Z9 mini manage 28 USD overclocked to 16000 sols with the BTC price around 6000.  Is the risk really that high that i wont ROI on this investment ? The difficulty has to go up 8-9X for this to happend ? And im not even debating a price increase of BTC then.  Even with an average of 5 USD per day the ROI is 5 months.
Am i being to optimistic here ?

Getting a capital return on the short period is a good thing and some additional time as your profit. Let say you can reach capital return at 3-4 month, and the rest of it (2-3) month as your profits time (productive time of your machine)

For me that was isn't a good move while choosing mining machines with short productivity time. Machine regenerations, coin prices, etc. must be your consideration since we have zero control over it.  Wink

But whatever it is, you have your own consideration to chose, as long as it gave you a good chance to make the profit, you can go for it.  Cheesy

Profit is dropping daily with over 7000 new Z9 minis now in the mining pools.  In Sept we will see another 10,000 to 30,000 added.  Within the next few months, look for the z9 maxi to drop.  I think we will be very very lucky to see $5 a day profit for that period (Sept 2018 through February 2019).

But if you have the mining bug, go for it.  That is not an expensive investment.

Think twice before ordering Angry:

I ordered 2 Antminers Z9 mini early from the first batch. I was charged 600$ cad in custom taxes but I have NOT received them yet because they were stuck in custom for 10 days even though I paid the taxes in full on first day and now DHL is telling me everyday I should receive them and I never receive them. Embarrassed

Now they were release from custom 4 days ago but I'm lucky cause when I called the custom they told me it could be stuck for up to 2 months.

I think it's because of the Trump tariffs fiasco. Now custom agents are very busy learning all the new rules for thousands of products that will get taxed. Or maybe because it's summer and some agents are also on vacation.

So far I lost 1000$ dollars because I could mine (normally I would have received it 12 days ago) and I still have no idea when I will really receive them and I paid 600$ that I was not expecting.

So I am sitting on a 1600$ unexpected fees for those f***ing miners and loosing 45$ everyday I am not receiving them! And the diff is growing fast too. Cry Cry Cry

To this you have to add the loss you incured for not investing that money instead (and now the market is going up so you can loose a lot if you don't invest instead).

ALWAYS use FedEx for bitmain orders to Canada,, simply the fastest delivery to your door. Received my batch 1 shipment of z9's Jun. 22nd via FedEx
(I also paid just under 300$ cdn import per unit)

I was in on the first batch and it arrived June 22nd. Ran it at 700 the first three days and then 750 since. Very reliable machine, mining Zencash and should hit Roi at the five week point. Then in September profitability will drop as others have stated. So far I am happy with this miner.

Profit is dropping daily with over 7000 new Z9 minis now in the mining pools.  In Sept we will see another 10,000 to 30,000 added.

I'm expecting more like 50,000 - 100,000 Z9 in Batch 2.

* About 10,000 - 12,000 alone in coupons to Batch 1 customers.
* They took a long time to sell out. Even after 16,500 sols and slow-to-fork was apparent.

Where did you find those production numbers? Are you talking about the z9 mini or the big brother z9?

History with these asics just repeats and repeats the more asic get released the difficulty goes up profit down look at the D3, A3, L3 the same is going to happen with the Z9 and E3 you can never keep up as soon as you think your going to profit they release a new bigger miner now spend another $2000-$3000 its never ending asics are cancer

I partially agree that ASIC history repeats itself. It should be clear by now that getting a 1st batch ASIC is the safest way to go. However, i'm surprised to see that these Z9s are still quite profitable considering it's been more than a month since it's release. I would have expected that the daily profit would be half of last month but it's still going strong.

The early Z9 buyers got lucky and made a good investment.

So I invested aroud 3000$ for ETH mining:

  • 6 RX 580 nitro+ 8GB ( 430$/GPU)
  • CPU (50$)
  • RAM (50 $)
  • MOTHERBOARD (150$)
  • PSU (270$)

and I'm almost loosing money. I'm not familiar with ASICS, but this z9 mini says it makes 10k sols and it uses 300W. My freaking video cards are using 1000w, electricity costs 0.14$, and they make 0.36 eth/month (every GPU is doing 31.7 MH). They barely pay for the electricity bill. How in God's name 10000 sols with 300W usage is not good I need to undestand. Cryptocompare says at this very moment, that this machine, would bring me 419$ per month. Even with shipment and taxes for what I can understand, I would get to ROI in 3 months. How could the dificulty raise so much that I wouldn't make ROI. Please explain me, cause I'm sick of hearing decentralized, gpu miners etc. Okay with more ASICS on the pools etc ... BUT HOW ? cause 300w for 10000 sols for sure is better than 1000w for 2100 sols (what my 6 rx 580 would make in zcash). I really think that I should sell the video cards and buy an ASIC. I'm super mad, sorry if I talked lousily. Please explain me why I shouln't sell the GPU's, or why everyone is talking about being dangerous to buy ASICS

for GPUs profits are low because BTC is bear right now and there are too many GPU mega farms and too many individual farmers.

Profits will be low for Asics for the same reason.

z9 and a9 have been on sale for some time now so you can expect 35-50% increase in difficulty with in 3 months extending your ROI. consider also that they are easier to deploy.

prices are so low right now I would recommend buying crypto instead of mining.
