The only one i heard of, which is still very fresh was Akon. He will be hosting it directly from Senegal and not the US where he is resident. I think Mark Zuckerberg should also be seen as a celebrity. He is also looking forward to bringing up his own cryptocurrency attached to Facebook.

Here are some links for my previous post.

Ashton Kutcher: A tweet about Bitcoi

https://twitter.com/aplusk/status/837429583867629568

50 cent: "50 Cent accidentally made $8 million in bitcoin"

https://www.theverge.com/2018/1/24/16930010/50-cent-rich-bitcoin-twitter-instagram-humblebrag

Snopp Dogg: Selling his album for Bitcoin

https://twitter.com/snoopdogg/status/407350025677586433

And my favorite and most ridiculous one: Kate Perry meets with Warren Buffet and she ask him about cryptos

https://www.cnbc.com/2017/11/29/katy-perry-and-warren-buffett-apparently-gabbed-about-cryptocurrency.html

Thanks for the links. Didn't know this guys have some crypto currencies as I am not into Hollywood or anything about celebrities.
Looks like there are some bad things that happened with Kate since the other guy is FUDding. He should have some proofs of what he is claiming about bubbles.
Just mere words wont prove it.
Luckily, bitcoin didn't end up on this kind of high value because of those celebrities. It was just Satoshi and the believers of bitcoin.

We don't know what actually buffet do tell to perry when it comes to crypto but we can already presume things up basing on his previous insights with it which is pure negative thing. Hope she didn't took those advise too serious and might consider to go in the right path.Im well aware to those links or news above but still it doesn't make sense to follow or took it out seriously maybe op do tend to follow up some celebrities choices of coins because of possible Hype. (Just my own view).
There was one celebrity boxer who backed a cryptocurrency called Centra and things didn't turn out well for him.
Grin Grin Grin
Founders of a cryptocurrency backed by Floyd Mayweather charged with fraud by SEC
And for those Mayweather fans been pulled in to invest then they do know already that not everything is suggested by famous ones would turn out to be good.

Just wanted to create a thread on this and if anyone has heard from reliable sources of well known people recently expressing interest in cryptocurrency.

Forget about the information noise. Believe me, all people who are engaged in investment have paid attention to crypto-currencies for a long time. News about their decisions is published at the right time.

If there is a celebrity who is going to promote a cryptocurrency then obviously, the price of the coin in the market will skyrocket but as of today, i did not see anyone who use a celebrity to promote their ico.

By well know people you mean people who are involved in technology, in that case then i know Bill gates has actually shown are real intrsset in Bitcoin when he was asked what he thinks about it and also Mark Zuckerberg the founder of Facebook is definitely involved in it since he is trying to creazt his own cryptocurrency for people to use on Facebook, and also Tai Lopez who is a rich and a successful investor has also started investing in many small altcoins. and said that they are defiantly a source of profit

I've seen many well known people who support the usage of cryptocurrency and even advertise ICOs. This is good for the specific coin or token or even as a whole. However, I do not trust them advertising an ICO. They are just paid people without any knowledge about what they are advertising. Their advertisement could be just a sugar coating for an incoming scam.

I wold just ignore it, most celebs are only interested because they get paid stupid amounts to advertise them. Most celebs connected with ICOs has been a disaster.

With all due respect but that is completely irrelevant and we could even say that it can be counter productive, lets suppose that one of the most famous stars supported bitcoin and as a result his or her fans bought cryptocurrencies but since those people do not know anything about them they will panic at the first opportunity, do you really want people like that in the market?

I've heard about Akon and many other celebrities.  Footballer Michael Owen and boxer Manny Pacquiao.  I would like to believe that the participation of famous people, a really thought-out and useful contribution to cryptography.  And not an ordinary PR.

The well know star Akon is going to launch his own coin this year.
He'll be issuing an ICO to fund his project to finance infrastructure in Africa.
Guess the name of coin?
AKoin Cheesy

AKoin omgg hahahahaha, I like that. Also some good public awareness and a great thing for him to do it in Africa, any economic advancement would be great over there

I think the most interest regarding cryptocurrency is showed by Akon. Even he is deeply engaged with the industry. He has planned launch his own namaed AKOIN. I hope he will get some extra benefit as celeb. Let us hope for the best.

But the question is that this project would able to follow its true motive when they do already accumulate support funds or get investors? Chances would be still on 50-50 and just like other projects it do succeed on ico but later on they do already forgot on what they do propose or promised.
Seeing or following coins or projects endorsed by any famous celebrity wont really be ideal.

certainly, this will be the attraction for investors. the crypto must be very serious in their field and have a large allocation so that it cooperates with the celebrities. but sometimes it is also less effective because it will make people began to forget the analysis for investment and choose the figure of celebrities as the figure within the crypto. This is okay because it is also a strategy in marketing.

I have not heard much about any celebrity showing interest in cryptocurrency aside from Akon that would launch is coin called Akon. The issue here is not celebrities having interest in crypto but let's there be a policy that would guide and protect an ordinary lay man in crypto

yes this is good, because it is so much easier to promote cryptocurrency. Since they are already famous it is easier to give an explanation of cryptocurrency. But I see most of them are just investment-oriented cryptocurrency.

Here in our country, one tv host is now active in cryptocurrency. He is even one of the developer team of the ICO and they succeed. Also, I've heard that one of our world boxing champion, Manny Pacquiao will join and will invest in cryprocurrency.
