Makes perfect sense.  Africa is a pioneer in the wallet system (EG W1- Wallet One), where all transactions take lace via mobile phone.  Bitcoin is a perfect evolution of this payment method.  Great news.

After all, if mankind paved the way for human evolution, it may as well pave the way Bitcoin! Grin

Rand scores one point versus the USD in becoming a reserve currency by trading one more thing than the USD in normal bank operations:

I couldn't have picked a better bank! These guys are s*it hot!

Most European/US banks are unprofitable, over-leveraged and stuck in the stone-age.

Banking is one of the few things South Africa actually does well & Standard Bank is at the top of that pile.

Great news!

I thought that it was probably only in Africa. This is great!

China funds the bank with a lot of loan money. Would not be surprised if this is actually a Chinese move to more easily get money in and out of its post-colonial industrial child, South Africa. There are numerous advantages for the Chinese in doing so. : Roll Eyes

I am curious if I can open an International account with them.  Looks like they have an option for corporate bank accounts for international/offshore customers.  http://international.standardbank.com/corporate/offshore-corporates/

You don't pay enough.
