I really don't think so. Bounties are still the best way to get people talking about an ICO and provide the required visibility to the social media. Also we don't yet have any different method which can provide the desired results for an ICO apart from bounty campaign. If an ICO developer is saying the same statement as you, ask them about the alternatives. I don't think there is any!
