 Cool

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

They are forking the block chain.

So, for people who aren't exactly sure - what should anyone do who's mining on Hashrapid?
Should they withdraw their coins right away, what's confirmed?
Should they stop mining in this pool until they are on the correct fork?

Any other advice welcome.

Hashrapid didn't update their wallet to version 1.0.0.2. They are forking the block chain.
Please temporary move your miners to other pools which updated to 1.0.0.2 until they update their wallet.

They are forking the block chain.

Can someone quickly explain to me what happens when a pool forks??

Does it actually start running on a separate block chain from the rest of the currency? Does it essentially become two chains of the same currency, creating duplicate coins?

Stop mining at hashrapid as they are on the wrong fork. When they update their wallet they will get back  to the main chain and you will lose all your coin that you mined on the wrong chain.
This is not a big deal. Blockchain fork all the time.

No, it's still working.
Only problem is that crontab stopped, I have to re-run.
The shares stuck so it has to run a large payout round. May take a while.

Not mining with Hashrapid, I've been sticking with Flappycoinpool recently. Was just looking to understand forking a bit more, and wrap my head head around why it occurs, and what the results of it are.
