Can someone name trusted bitcoin wallet/s..

https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet

If you're just starting out, i'd stick to the desktop wallet section,
If you're holding a bit more, i'd stick to the hardware wallets, or investigate paper wallet or airgapped wallets.
I'd recommand you to stay away from the web wallets.

You will find the most common wallets in the link from mocacinno.

Electrum is probably (I didn't check any statistics) the one which is mainly used. Before using it you should understand change addresses.

First is hardware wallet, second is Electrum. But in any case you should to spent a lot of time studying safety aspects - how to protect yourself from scammers, viruses, etc.

If you are into categorize them here, there are many different choices to be noticed:
Offline wallets - Paper wallets (highly recommended)
Online wallets - Core, Electrum & (Blockchain which is not so good to use as it is vulnerable to hacks)
Hardware wallets - Trezor, Ledger Nano S, Cryptosteel and billfodl (highly recommended).

Can someone name trusted bitcoin wallet/s..
Here's something every bitcoin owner should know, the safety and security of your bitcoins is ultimately your responsibility. Remember bitcoin transactions are not reversible. To send or spend bitcoins, one must have access to both public and private keys, Private keys especially must be protected. For me I preferred on desktop wallets, Bitcoin desktop wallets offer one of the highest level of security in terms of bitcoin storage, You must download the software to your computer and perform bitcoin transactions to your desktops.

Hardware wallets are just a techno gimmick which provide the users a false sense of security, period.

Offline wallets - Paper wallets (highly recommended)
How can he use a paper wallet for purchasing goods or actively use for sending and receiving bitcoins?
That's for Cold Storage, you can always trust a private key in a piece of paper that you personally made.
Quote from: Stedsm
Online wallets - Core, Electrum & (Blockchain which is not so good to use as it is vulnerable to hacks)
Core is vulnerable to hacks, OMFG.
Everything that's installed to a computer that was connected to the internet are vulnerable to hacks, but it's not the main reason not to trust them.

OP is asking for Trusted Bitcoin wallets and the wallets from the list on bitcoin.org is a strong indicator that those can be trusted.
Try Electrum; I trust it, HCP trusts it, Bob Trusts it, mostly everyone does and it's on the list.

So you have your opinion about hardware wallets, is it based on your personal experience or you know an example when some user lost his coins in a way that hardware wallet is hacked? How much is known to me something like that is did not happen so far, so why hardware wallets by you "provide the users a false sense of security"?

You say try Electrum, nothing wrong in that, it is well know and trusted wallet, but in terms of security there is so many bad things which can happen when using Electrum :

- User can download fake Electrum wallet (dozens of fake page just waiting for the victims )
- Clipboard malware which change addresses inside Electrum
- RAT (Remote Access Trojan)
- Still unknown security vulnerabilities

Most of this is solved in hardware wallets, private keys are always encrypted in device and seed is never exposed to your PC. I do not say hardware wallets are 100% safe, but in comparison to desktop wallets are incomparably safer.

You'd better use a paper wallet. I didn't perform the transaction with Bitcoin, but did with Dogecoin. Didn't meet any problems.

I use blockchain.com. The safest and most popular wallet for investing and storing digital assets. ,but I realise all online wallets are, per definition, less safe compared to trusted desktop wallets on a clean system, paper wallets, hardware wallets and airgapped wallets.
You can use bitcoin wallet on operational system like wallet for Windows, Linux or Mac, but need to dowload all the blockchain transactions unless you chose on of the many SPV desktop wallets. This is waste of time.  . However, if you chose to install a full node/wallet like bitcoin core or btcd, you help the network by verifying and storing all blocks, and rejecting blocks/transactions that are invalid. By running a full node/wallet, you depend on no thirth party, exactly as bitcoin was designed.
But better of course the paper wallet it is more safier. I haven't perform yet the transaction from paper.  Just done it with dogecoin. Smiley
Transaction was performed successfully.
So, it's up to you what to choose

Fixed that for you

Upon sequest of Wikadin, i scratched my comment. I did this because he edited his post, so it no longer contains errors.

Most of this is solved in hardware wallets, private keys are always encrypted in device and seed is never exposed to your PC. I do not say hardware wallets are 100% safe, but in comparison to desktop wallets are incomparably safer.

All the problems that you are indicating are possible problems with the OS, not with Electrum.
These problems can be solved if you switch to using Tails, for example. That already comes with the electrum installed. The seed you would have to put on a paper. But in a hardware Wallet, you also have to save it on paper.

Hardware wallet is very good. But they are also extremely expensive depending on where you live. They draw much more attention if you want to travel with it.

If the goal is to popularize the use, always recommend using a hardware wallet makes it harder for those who are starting now to be enchanted by the BTC. The initial cost gets very expensive. Just to put it in perspective, in Brazil buy a Ledger in a Big Store would cost more them half of a minimum wage.

Quote
Last year Brazil's federal government increased the minimum wage to R$937.00 per month (US$287.89), which corresponds to R$4.26 per hour or R$31.23 per day.

I recommend using https://www.blockchain.com/id/wallet
Full features. You can use email as login access to your wallet account or you're using 2fa.
If you use a software wallet, it is very susceptible to viruses.

This kind of bitcoin wallet now mostly recommended for those bitcoin holders as a wallet, since it is free to create and more secure using 2FA authentication and have a strong password maybe that is enough to secure your bitcoin from theft or scammers.
But if you have a huge amount of bitcoin and planning to hold for a long-term you much prefer to buy a hardware wallet, just spend a little amount to store your bitcoins safe.

I wouldn't recommend using blockchain wallet, Electrum and Exodus wallet are good at this moment and the best part you will the sole owner of your private keys.

I think it's actually easier to recommend wallets people should NOT trust... So, basically... ANY wallet that does not give you access to the private keys!

If you do not control the private keys, you do not control the bitcoins.
