Hey guys,
I have been doing a lot of research into Devcoins (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=233997.0) and Digitalcoins (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=209508.0) and I'm trying to debate which coin would be most advantageous to invest in.
Digitalcoins seems to be more popular than Devcoins but both currencies have great communities. Can anyone shed light as to which would be a better time investing in?

Thanks a lot Smiley

I'm going in on digitalcoin, especially with the upcoming developments (direct exchange to buy dgc for fiat).  I don't think you could go wrong with either, though.  I think both have a lot of headway for market growth.

I have investments in both actually. DGC has a really great, strong community and the coin itself has great specs. Its unfortunately hampered by the fact that it has little use. A few places of business take it but that's it. CryptoAve or CAVE as most call it also just opened up. CAVE is a DGC exchange that provides conversions of DGC into several other currencies. Unfortunately CAVE hasn't generated the early buzz that people thought it would which drove some of the short term investors off. However, the exodus of the short term sellers caused a price drop off so right now DGC is valued at about 1/3 of what I believe it's actual value is. Of course that's just my educated guess based on charts and knowledge of the community. I think it has a lot of future potential and so having a small position in it is worth it. If you are looking to build a position now is the time as the coin is undervalued.

DVC is interesting too. I have a much larger... position... in DVC. I like the concept behind it because it's simple. The coin is very straightforward and I don't have to mine it at all. I can keep a competitive position because the coin is used to pay developers. This makes it appealing to me as it gives me an easy way to maintain a strong position since I will continue to get paid for work that I do in DVC. Of course, I think DVC is in the middle of a dump right now and it could be a risky buy (or the perfect time, depending on how you want to acquire it). I tend to lean toward it being undervalued as well but I'm not sure that it will ever hold the value that DGC is going to hold but who knows.

Both coins are accepted on the major exchanges and I think there is a possibility we will see DVC get put on CAVE at some point (hopefully). So really they are somewhat equal ground, to me at least. I would say just have a position in both. Why not be diverse? No one ever said put all your eggs in one basket. I guess if I could only pick one, I would go with DigitalCoin based on fundamentals alone. (Sorry DevCoin I still love you!)

A dgcpoker.net, do you see that surge in "traffic" LOL

That's a classic brute force on your user names that stored in the wide open.

1. poker app is not coded in php but ok
2. port 8087 is used by the poker app but ok
3. you created 7 accounts and did a brute force against the 7 accounts that you already know the names to but ok
4. thanks for the tip on the captcha...

Devcoin is unique, it does something no other coin does.

What makes digitalcoin different? What is unique about it compared to other coins?

Here is the link to my trust settings here on forum. This trust system is very unfair. I make good on every deal Ive ever made. I had many, many deals as you can see and I never scammed anyone. All it takes is a random account to give you negative trust and youre screwed. Tomatocage has never even talked to me ever but when the random acct hit me with negative trust, Tomatocage came right behind him and marked neg trust again so obviously he was the one who did it. You can look at Tomatocage trust and see how many of his compeditors at the currency exchange thread he labeled scammers. I never scammed anyone. My trust was green over 20 before this. I hope it never happens to you because the mods cant help you.

Digitalcoin (DGC) has a lot of things going for it at the moment chris. The new poker site has just opened (you could have seen the link but BCX went and reported me for it and apparently it was deleted, so here it is again www.dgcpoker.net ) even though it wasn't spam, it was a relevant link that had to do with the discussion. Also Digitalcoin has never been successfully 51% attacked, The new exchange www.cryptoave.com is coming back shortly, www.prelude.io just announced they are offering DGC/USD as of next week.

Thats all I can think of right now. As far as innovation goes the dev has put in "checkpoint blocks" which as far as I understand prevent it from forking. I could be wrong about that tho.

I'm not saying DGC is a scamcoin. I realize that they fall into the category of coins that are trying to become used by the general public. DGC is not a pump and dump I believe.

But DGC also falls into the category, in that it has nothing uniqe as far as I know. Unless it's impossible to fork. That would be interesting. I do hope that DGC reaches it goals.

As a web developer looking at Payment Systems, i would say that the 40 second block time for Digitalcoin is very attractive, as is the dedication of the coin developer.

Realistically, in 5 years time, will 30+ minutes be acceptable as a payment confirmation time?
My guess is no, especially when there are options like DGC which can confirm payments in a few minutes.
This is where DGC, like a few others, are different.

Devcoin.... What is the block time? It's not even on the website or official forum...
This suggests to me that the coin is not being seriously pushed as Payment option.

I think we will end up with 2 types of cryptos.... currencies & commodities. Both have their uses.

Nice rebuttal. Looks like a decent hand there Tech I'd say a full house while BCX is holding a pair of deuces on that one. Thanks for playing BCX better luck next time lol.

DGC has a much better future.

DGC seems to be just another insecure blockchain whose developers do not even want it to be secure.

If you want fast block times, there are I0Coin and GeistGeld, both of which are merged mined thus have some chance to maybe actually be able to secure their blockchains.

As far as I know DGC cannot be merged mined so it not only is insecure itself but also is trying to lure away hashing power from securing other coins. It is thus destructive to the whole coin ecosystem instead of co-operating to help all the coins be secure.

The DGC chain has never had any issue. It has been completely secure all these months. So your words are based on what? Having too much of old coins and wanting to revive them?  That's funny.

ASICs will bring plenty of hash power for all the networks. We will be able to secure the full network with much less cost thanks to the dedicated hardware. My bet is, your two coins will stay irrelevant. DGC will offer a unique alternative, not piggyback on another block chain's hash to barely survive, like I0Coin and GeistGeld.

Digitalcoin all the way for me. Great lead dev in Baritus and team of devs working on various projects/services for Digitalcoin. CryptoAve exchange opening back up very soon, DGCV2.0 update, Digitalcoin ATM's about to be deployed at various locations starting with Canada. These are just a few examples. Looking forward to a promising future for DGC.

I would personally say DGC.  Even though it's not a super unique coin as those to are arguing, it brings a unique community ready to jump into action for anything.  I also like the block time of DGC more than DevCoin.
