I decided to delete the chain and redownload it, wondering if I end up with the same or different results.

Kinda bums me out that I'd left the wallet open for 7 weeks and been staking on the wrong chain or something, seems as if I'll lose all stake rewards after April 18th, 2018.

Also wondering how in the world this occured and wishing I'd been checking the block explorer more often.

Ya, I deleted all files, resyncing now, and with 15 weeks left to go my balance in wallet is already higher than what shows in block explorer.

Something is not right.

Seems forked to me but I'm no expert.

Ok, after the wallet resynced, my balance now shows correct.

My concern now is, how did I end up not synced with the chain in the first place for this to occur?  Seems my wallet was open with status of synced and staking for almost 2 full months when in reality, it wasn't synced, nor staking, not to the right chain anyways.

I don't see how deleting the database and redownloading it was any resolution to how the issue occured to begin with.  How could I stake and get reward up until April 18th and then all of a sudden end up behind and transactions not going to the block explorer?  I hadn't changed anything from when they were counting until when they weren't.

Seems bizarre to me.

Will see what happens.
Do these coin devs realize that we cannot follow all alterations as we have many wallets
and other affairs to take care of?

Simply put... if you buy any crypto, its your responsibility to keep track of the crypto and project updates.

Also, understand that I think 4.0.0.3 might be too old to re-sync. The current wallet is version 4.0.0.5

Wallet seems good now.  I'm thinking since I hadn't updated nodes to the current node list, I somehow got forked to an older client / chain?  Only thing that makes sense to me.

Well guys after updating from 4.0.0.3 to  4.0.0.5
and 15h to re-sync all seems fine now.
Still no explanation why wallet seemed fine when it wasn't.

Dr. Charles I'm fully aware if one buys any crypto, its our responsibility to keep track of the crypto and project updates.
I just start giving up on coins that are constantly changing because the work involved and time spent is not worth their value.

Sounds like you branched off on a forked chain.  It's happened to me once as well.   The network weight on a forked chain is going to be very low so the tipoff is that you start staking like crazy.  I've developed a staking calculator that I will release shortly that will tell you exactly what to expect from whatever you're staking, including the current interest rate and the compounded rate over day, week, month, and year.  

Deleting your database and resyncing is exactly what is needed to resolve this issue and to get back on the correct chain again.
I don't know if this has happened to anyone else but I'm running an old R290 that I beat the piss out of mining DOPE back in the day.   The display driver likes to crash sometimes and it black screens, sending an awful noise through my speakers and hanging my rig.  Often, after the hard reboot, I find that if I had my wallet open and staking when it hung my blockchain has become corrupted and is now unable to sync.  It was probably in the middle of writing a block when this happens.  The only solution is to delete the entire contents of my appdata directory (except wallet.dat of course!), restart the client, and resync the entire blockchain.

Resynchng your wallet goes a lot faster if you have a bootstrap.dat file from a valid blockchain.     So... I wrote a script based on work by EUCA and set up a cron on my linux node to automatically create a new bootstrap.dat every Friday at 4:20  

It is then uploaded automatically to a dropbox that you all can access here:   Dopecoin Bootstrap
All you need to do is close the client, clear everything out of the appdata folder (except wallet.dat and maybe your .conf file if you made one), copy bootstrap.dat in there, and re-start your client.  I just synched a client from scratch in less than 70 minutes.

As it syncs much faster so it should not take more than 2-4 hours to completely resync. Wallet files are backward-compatible so you can use old wallet.dat file but it is suggested to import your "old" private keys into new empty Dopecoin Core wallet or simply send all your coins to it. Do not forget to backup your wallet.dat before doing anything!

This release is recommended, but not mandatory. Windows binaries only.

Please be advised that the bootstrap link I posted earlier WILL NOT work for v4.1.0.0
The bootstrap is for v4.0.0.X ONLY.  Also, you shouldn't be running anything less than v4.0.0.4 at this point or you're not going to be able to stake or send coins.
The readme.txt included with the zip file has also been updated to include this new information.
