I've been trying to look for a way (within the app - sources [where are they?]) to customize the template but had no luck (can you point me in the right direction?):

I have always just used Rainmeter - there are loads of different Bitcoin and Altcoin tickers, and you can completely customise them to fit your desktop.

The templates are located on "C:\Program Files (x86)\BitTab\template" directory.

You can start from duplicate "default" or "default-double" folder, and edit the source-code inside.
If you are familiar with HTML and CSS (or a little bit of Javascript), it would be easy.

Yes, Rainmeter. It's a neat app with a powerful feature of skin customization.
It can also be the a good way, though, the usage could be different.

I think that the major differences are..

• BitTab collects values from each exchange where the user want to know specifically. It is important for some users that cryptocurrency values are different according to exchanges although the coin is the same.
• It sticks to the taskbar or top corner of screen to display information without making overlay on the other programs
• It is dedicated for the cryptocurrency ticker that contains world-wide exchanges and more than 500 different coins.

Sorry.. but because of the difference of fundamental basis, there is no widget code for Web or webpages.
