Newcomers are so desperate to earn bitcoin wherever and however they can, creating opportunity for the scammers.

Yeah, they act like bitcoin desperado junkies hell bent on getting their coin fix, it's pathetic. Seeing the way some people act on this forum, they are virtually asking to be scammed.

There is somewhat of an argument to make people take a quiz before signing up on here, or to otherwise make it much more obvious that the forum does not moderate potential scams.

I think that people are just so used to there being consumer protections that do not appear in the bitcoin world. They assume they will be protected from scams when they are not and as a result they do not do sufficient due dilligance

The easiest way to didnt get scammed is to do not trusted anyone ..
but how about carding?
as you know there's many company accepting Bitcoin in online shoping now , is there any possibility in 'bitcoin carding' ?

If you were to buy something from a merchant with bitcoin then you would need to trust the merchant with your money until they deliver the goods to you.

You are correct to say that the best way to not get scammed is to not trust anyone however if you don't trust anyone then you cannot engage in any kind of commerce

So just thinking out in my head here  in light of the bitcoin7.com scam  ( which your's truly called it a scam https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=17043.0;all ) where and how do these scams come about ?

I'm starting to see a pattern here between the polish exchange , mybitcoin and the other's who seem to have been "scammed" by some bad people .  My theory:

Build a front-facing website that actually looks like a "business" , then cry-foul that russians came and took your business wallet along with all the BTC of your customers, sell the company to anyone who wants it  then walk-away with all the coins.

Rinse & Repeat. I mean all these sites come up with the same Bullshit could their be collusion involved with all these? Should we put Phinnaeus Gage on the case?

This is bullshit. Actually there are so many websites out there that are scams also. Guess what they are still continuously doing this kind of stuff and there are still individuals who are still believing. We should be more smart in dealing with this crypto world. I am agree on your theory sir.

I hate to admit it but I've been scammed - twice! I consider myself a pretty discerning person but I lost money to:

1.megabitchain.com - a HYIP offering great returns. They were paying well and after my test deposit I deposited a few hundred - and the next day the site was gone along with my money.

2.https://hackmining.org/contact.php - touted by a guy on https://www.facebook.com/groups/bitcoinearnings (it's full of scammers!) promising huge returns on mining. I purchased the software; which didn't work. The worse part is (against my better judgement) I gave them remote access to my computer to solve the issue with Team Viewer (and the team viewer password). The convinced me to upgrade to the Pro version - and $150 later I haven't seen the software download or heard back from them.  

All in all $700AUD hundred lost; not a lot in the scheme of things but it still bites!

I almost lost money to the mining scam going around with the intro phrase: "I mine bitcoins on blockchain wallets.By connecting to the mining stream i can mine a total 0.5 between 4 to 7btc weekly.Would you like to know more about this?" Again, found these guys in Bitcoin Earnings FB page. But I wised up to it.

I have a few questions I'm hoping someone can help with me:
1. What sort of damage can they inflict with me granting them remote access? I've deleted Team Viewer and the mining software, and I'm running a full virus scan. What else can I do/should I look out for?
2. Has anyone heard of https://mining55.net - or am I looking straight at another scam site?
3. Can anyone recommend some good passive return investments? I get that trading alt coins is a good way to build up funds to purchase BTC and buying and holding BTC is the ideal; at least that's my strategy. I'm just trying to build some funds to purchase alt coins as my cash flow is non-existent at the moment and I'm a busy mumma

I've got investments sitting with USI and BTCGlobal and they are returning well; though slowly. Others say mining and lending are good opportunities.

Any thoughts, recommendations; alternative strategies, decent FB pages to connect with would be appreciated. I need to get away from these scammy, scammy sites!

In a strict sense, this is considered a financial fraud, and the perpetrators can be sent to prison. Regardless of whether Bitcoin or Litecoin is lost, the essence is financial fraud, which has nothing to do with the blockchain and complete legal issues.
