This is something that is around and will continue to be around. Scamming is some people's way to easy money no matter who they hurt and what they take from others. With bitcoins it's so much easier for a scam to take place and then get away with it because so many do not know what it is and there is nothing in place to help those that get scammed. Best way to be is alert and always look out for anything suspicious.

This could be true. However, I don't think its fair that Bitcoins is only for scamming. This is what I think most people think to some extent.

Bitcoin simplify the scamming process. As the scammer can be sitting anywhere in the world that has internet access. And they do not even have to worry about being arrested even if the victim found out their identity.

May be. But scammers can take advantage of Bitcoin. For example, it is much easier to scam people using Bitcoins and at the same time it is outright impossible to track the perpetrators. This will slow down the public adoption of Bitcoin. For example, a lot of people use Paypal, despite its insanely high charges. If they could be convinced that using Bitcoin is as safe as Paypal, then a lot of them will immediately shift to the crypto currency.

if i were a scammer, i'd probably do it on silkroad - it's way easier to prey on druggies looking for their next score. maybe not everyone on SR is like that, but i'm pretty sure there are lots of them. they make the most irrational decisions after all.

SR was a great playground to try some scamming I agree. A lot of people who have no clue.

and don't forget gamblers too.. they have issues similar to druggies. they can't control themselves. and the thing about it is, if you don't scam them, they'll lose their money either way.

but nah, i'm too honest to scam anyone. just a thought experiment.

So just thinking out in my head here  in light of the bitcoin7.com scam  ( which your's truly called it a scam https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=17043.0;all ) where and how do these scams come about ?

I'm starting to see a pattern here between the polish exchange , mybitcoin and the other's who seem to have been "scammed" by some bad people .  My theory:

Build a front-facing website that actually looks like a "business" , then cry-foul that russians came and took your business wallet along with all the BTC of your customers, sell the company to anyone who wants it  then walk-away with all the coins.

Rinse & Repeat. I mean all these sites come up with the same Bullshit could their be collusion involved with all these? Should we put Phinnaeus Gage on the case?

Thoughts?

That was the first person that came to mind when I read this post haha!  It does sort of have a similar feel the same situations Phineus has ranted about time and time again.  If you see a trend of scams then you may very well be on to something.  I think people often times make bad decisions with who they trust with their coins and the cycle just repeats itself.  None the less people need to have in the back of their minds the shady people they see in real life also have access to the internet..  And they get to be even more shady when they think nobody is looking, so be careful with whom you choose to work with and give control of your funds to(rule #1).

Bitcoin is currently accepted by many deep-web people like hackers and cyber-criminals. Its also used by scammers a lot due to fact that payments are fully anonymous and irreversible.

Payments are not fully anonymous. With a little know how you can find the ISP of transactions. There are ways to hide the source of a transaction, but the normal payments across the network are not anonymous. It is true that they are irreversible.

lol... there are a lot of bad people out there. Don't risk your life for the sake of a few coins.

It is true that the Silk Road 2.0 is more vulnerable to scams, after admins removed the escrow system. Now they are using multi-sig wallets, which are more susceptible to cheating.
