Hi,

I recently fell victim of a scam attempt and I thought I would let you all guys know. It is very well social-engineered, seems very credible and it really makes you think that maybe your computer was compromised and keylogged.

Basically they claim to have a keylogger installed on your system, to have hijacked the camera and have been able to hijack your screen - all while you - the victim - has been browsing porn sites.

Then I found a link on the internet and it seems that I was just one of many attempted victims:
https://www.reddit.com/r/sysadmin/comments/6txdm2/the_best_scam_email_ive_ever_seen/
https://www.reddit.com/r/Scams/comments/6v2ji9/a_little_blackmail_email_in_my_inbox_this_morning/

The attacker wants some money (ranging from 300 to 350 USD in Bitcoin) sent to some Bitcoin addresses they provide.

Hope you are all well and didn't fall victims!

Bitcoin addresses contain a checksum, so it is very unlikely that mistyping an address will cause you to lose money.

Didnt received that kind of email. And thanks for the information. People nowadays (those scammer) are really have a lot of resources just to scam other people. This is very alarming due to the massive effect of to the bitcoin community. They assume if they have a lot of bitcoun they are going to be rich. But they didnt think of the possible outcome of it. Like as of now, bitcoin is slowley declining its price. So no one really a sure winner.

Well, I investigated some more. To add credibility, it seems that attackers devised a new (improved, if I may use that word in this context) version of this scam email that provides a web service that a person recently used together with that person's leaked password. It may be restricted only to UK-based victims and services, but I am not sure.

To anybody who may have received such an email: it is simply a leaked passwords from a web service, not a credible verification that they keylogged your system! But change that password immediately.

Since we are moving to the digital future of payments we will be expecting a lot of more hacking incidents and scams in crypto space. The best thing that we should do is be very careful and vigilant in reporting such acts to at least lessen cyber crimes. If you happen to know someone that is doing phishing, scam schemes or even hacking hobbies then please do report it to the authority. We may not be hacked or victimized by those scam schemes but we don't know in the near future with the development of new hacking tools, everything is possible with just a simple click of a link or even here in the forum.

Those people who makes effort just to steal other peoples money are the poison in this world, they only want one time bigtime move just to get big money than to make an effort to their selves to earn in a good way. Those people will sacrifice their lives and dignity just to stole other people's money.

 Grin haa haa

If I am doing something wrong; the  fear is natural.  Definitely I will not want that my known people shall come to know that I watch such movies.  Though in today's age most of the people watch this may be some people have watched hundrerds of times and other watching twice or thrice in their life.
But no one wants to create his image as such movie watcher in the eyes of relatives.

My conclusion is watching these movies is just mental sickness nothing else.

Cheaters are inventing latest modes how to cheat people.  So we must be careful all the time.  May be the cheater got your mail id from some public forum and then targetted you to cheat.

      Hi

i almost fell victim of this act early this  month of july. I got a mail congratulating me that i just got some token in my wallet that i should open the link sent to my via my mail box  to activate my verification so as to get an immediate alert into my local account which i did though i was curious to know and see the end result so i logged into the link i saw the form and behold it was the nefarious work of scammers i laughed because they are so stupid that they think i would fall such victim of their tricks. in the content of the form they demanded for my wallet key and my wallet address so as to facilitate the transfer but i didnt send any to them. please we should all  be at alert as they are every where to scam and hack accounts to steal.

As the community keeps growing, the scam has also been increasing and the way they do it, it now doesn't even seem suspicious. For me, I always try to be extra cautious and I change my password regularly, and also it's good to get involved with only verified sites, that keeps one away from scams more. I really appreciate your efforts how you took the time to inform everyone about this, spreading awareness, thank you for writing this post.
