There's another list for escrows that you can ask for your deal to be safe. As long as that's legal transaction, you will not have problem of asking them.
Recommended bitcointalk escrow services was updated last June 22,2018 so that's most recent than the other list.
If someone contacts you and he's not on those list, check his trust rating and depend only with those people on the list.

There are also some escrow companies online, if you prefer trusting a company rather than an individual on this forum. I personally trust the mods, staff and some Legendaries here a lot more than a company with an address and registration, but I can understand it wouldn't be the same for a person completely new to the forum.

Depending on the crypto you're using, smart contract capability also means there are even some smart contracts you can use to form a "trustless" escow. I have read Rootstock (as a Bitcoin sidechain) and Particl seemed to have some early work on Bitcoin contracts for escrow... but looking online they both seem to still require moving away from actually using Bitcoin (correct me if I'm wrong) and to their own assets.

Actually, this leads me to think a useful thread could be opened up to ask about this...

Trusted escrows (not sure if updated) can always be found on this list'' https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2439910.0 '' if in case you need one. Escrows act as middlemen on trades that involves two parties willing to exchange good to each other but don't mutually trust each other fully. They ensure that a trade goes smoothly and no one will be burned during the process. Usually, escrows are people who are highly trusted in a certain community and in most cases, won't scam these two parties since they are already paid a fee.
