The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

This good... but, I just watched footage of an armored car being blown up by molotov cocktails in Ukraine. Seems like they have more pressing issues to sort out than the regulation of bitcoin.

If you want to decentralize power you need to decentralize MONEY!
and I think that smart people get this by now.....
http://www.npo.nl/2doc-mad-dog-inside-the-secret-world-of-muammar-gaddafi/18-02-2014/VPWON_1206874
centralized money is a big problem for wise good people.
This docs give a very good inside over what comes first / money or human right , oil / gas or human rights...
If you decentralize this power we could all be better off think about it.

Actually, that sounds like the perfect place for bitcoin - they're doing away with their government and bitcoin can flourish without regulators screwing things up.

I'm grumpy!!

Again if you want to solve a human right problem BEGIN by money creation decentralization.
don't expect any change before that,.
the current model we are living is endless growth or collapse , this has to change first.
if you want a sustainable environment.
and also human rights are simply NOT possible in this model.

LOL my exact thoughts.  A province just declared their independence from Ukraine.  I think they have more pressing matters...

In my opinion they will legalize it cause they are going to change Constitution (to come back to Constitution 2004)  and other things that will reduce president's power.

Hi, I am from Ukraine.

And I am searching a legal way how to get fiat from sold bitcoins on various exchanges.

Thus I am constatnly monitoring the legal status of bitcoin in Ukraine.

1) National Central Bank notice that was published actually could not be found on official web site of NBU.
It was published by one news agency only and reposted by others.

2) NBU Notice about bitcoin was only warning about risks and NBU just told that it does not take any responsibility for risks.

3) NBU Notice clearly defined that Bitcoin is not a payment system accordingly to the current law in Ukraine.
The law states that a digital money payment system can be issued and controlled only by a bank. The didgtal money which were issued may be accounted only in UAH national currency units and only for internal transactions. In the law clearly defined that digital money can be used for mobile payment systems. And not clear for what else.

4) Notice also stated that till now any Bank or anybody else did not yet requested registration of the Bitcoin payment system in Ukraine.

Side notice: in Ukraine only 3 or 4 Banks already registered digital money payment systems with NBU.
None of them got real acceptance.

WebMoney could not get registration with NBU that is why there was legal base to crush WebMoney in Ukraine.
YandexMoney also did not registered with NBU but they do not have any company directly associated with YandexMoney in Ukraine so they just cannot be attacked directly.

On such system that was more or less visible in media was GlobalMoney which were issued and backed by government own Oshadbank. Recently GlobalMoney was accused by tax administration in organizing criminal scheme for avoiding taxes in mass. There were criminal investigation in offices of the company and servers and documents were extracted.

The thing is that government owned Oshadbank wanted to open a digital money payment system. This means that to open such a system top gov officials and their close business partners were in this. And everything was agreed with business partners from tax administration and with NBU clan. So there should not be any, ANY such problem with the system no matter what. So what happened was not a problem of the company but it is a problem of its patron clans from gov nbu and tax clans.

Now you can get an idea about overal situation in Ukraine legal environment about bitcoin. How far far your assumptions were.

But we anyway will use bitcoin and help others.

I think that will hardly happen , now when Russia "banned" bitcoin. But would be great if that happens .

It's remarkable news though..

As far as i understand the conflict the government is very pro russia and the protesters very pro europe.
A legalization of Bitcoin in Ukraine could separate parts of the economy from russia.

Yes. Russia now basically owns Ukraine so they will maybe try to "hide" some of their money/economy in BTC trading Smiley . All just speculations.

I can hardly believe it has anything to do with Russia at all, Ukraine has its own laws and looks like it may be independent soon.

I believe crypto currencies have never been banned in Ukraine, and as soon as the country gets over with what's happening, BTC will be legalized.
