Seeking reporter badge images

Finally some encouragements for reporting bad posts... To me reporting is kind of policing or being a detective for the forum. So my inspirations are coming from police/detective themes.

I have highlighted the ones I prefer.
The first one with the face is kind of busted
Second one with the ID search is basically looking for plagiarism, spamming contents etc etc
The third one is kind of a siren where be aware of the use, s/he will bust you.

Whichever we chose, colorize them like BTCforJoe, cissrawk suggested.

I like the idea of the badge for reporting to the moderator. Since I don't have enough of graphic talent do make a nice icon within the size demands I will only offer my take on good/bad reports.

I would make it in a way that user gets the badge for report only in case he has 90% successful reports. Of course actual percentage should probably be tweaked a little but I will leave that for more experienced members of the community. I have 100% but I only reported around 50 posts for now.

I think it would be under the coins used to depict rank like the other badges already in use.

If you hover the mouse over that Bitcoin symbol you see the text "Bitcoin core developer".

I think that's a great idea.

Now I need another coffee. I was going to complain that the mouse hover didn't work. and then I realised that I was hovering over an image, and not a real profile. The Internet distorts reality, especially when you stay in bed for too long.

I like the idea. I think reporters should be rewarded with something in some capacity, and I guess this is a little token for their extra work. I wonder is sig campaigns will pay extra for the badge? 

Have you thought about any other additional benefits to reporting? Maybe a bigger personal text or something else? I think the more rewards for reporting the better as it is largely a thankless task even though it helps a lot and we really could do with more people reporting things, but when there's little to no reward for it most people wont bother.

Try to create it, however its looks similar to other badge that i found on internet, well i got inspiration from google too and i'm using bitcoin logo. Since this is bitcointalk.

= 1000 good report
= 5000 good report

Probably, theres always people who will abuse report to get that badge and glad mod will make it as bad report, maybe it will be good if you add bad report badge too, so people will not abuse report feature to get that good report badge.

P.S There's always better design than this.

I like the idea of those ones. Some sort of little badge/shield or medal will work. Maybe just change the numbers to single figures like 1 2 or 3, or maybe just a plain one for 300, then 1k & 5k etc.

Just a question: what about users who don't want to be known as someone who reports actively?

May be a toggle checkbox as an additional option like we have for post count?

These looks fine too, i think whatever it's chosen there must be a connection to what actually represents.

I don't have that option yet but it looks like it is giving you the option of whether you want to see the badges or not. What LeGaulois was suggesting was the option to wear or hide your own badge.

I think he just added it by editing the html in the chrome browser to show how it would look, i don't have it either

How about a mushroom cloud for 5k, since you're responsible for nuking so many posts!!!
A little explosion for 300 a slightly bigger explosion/smaller mushroom cloud (or maybe diff colour idk) for 1k.

They have to be exactly 16x16 px (like ), and if you find them online, then they must be copyright-free.

A good graphic designer can make it in 5 to 10 mins if you give them the chosen one and also tell them the color pattern etc.

I am fairly new to the forum however would you mind if I join?

The idea is related to cleaning the forum which reminds me a combination of a forum icon and a cleaning brash.

Here is a cleaning brash icon:


May be we can create an icon combining the forum icon and a cleaning brash like we see for ccleaner.


Or may be a brash icon combine with a BTC icon?

if this is implemented I hope there is a way to hide this badges in my country having a report reward is a bad image. it's called "sumbungero "which is a negative image for some of us.  this is one of the rewards I shame to show.

I'm sure theymos has already considered the fact that many users won't want to be labeled as a "snitch" or "Sumbungero". It will very likely be optional. Probably be best that it was turned off by default too.

I like those ones, I prefer to see also something related to military badges 

            = Good Reporter (300 Good Reports)
       = Excellent Reporter (1000 Good Reports)
  = Legendary Reporter (5000 Good Reports)

BTCforJoe badges are good but i prefer to keep it for something more important. The ones having this "verified" badge should imo be known by the community (green) or by a group (orange) or by no one (grey).

Stars are fine, and Flying Hellfish of the mushroom cloud is an interesting one. However, I would personally refrain from using any types of ticks for the badge. How about a white hat or something?

Just a question,
What is this report badges for? Does it affect the ranking system? If yes, Iam sure that lots of user will do reporting excessively even if the reported replies is useful for everyone.

What are the consequences if you do not maintain the report counts?
