I'm doing 3 icons with color:bronze, silver, gold. And 1 icon with one option.

Guys I create 3 variant icons for reports.

So first variant my favorite. Because hi causes association with protection forum.
300 good report
1000 good report
5000 good report

Also I think that should be icons for banned and merit source

Icons will be useful. They are simple and informative

I really like 1 variant of badges for reports. Shields looks really cool, but i think they need some upgrade. For example, remove this ribbon or remove symbols on ribbon, because we can't see what the author wrote there. And second good idea, it's badges for bans. For now we don't have any signs that means this profile is banned. And for our safety, so that people will can't conduct machinations with account, i think we need badge for ban.

How about some badges which staff members can vote on a monthly basis for the 'best' reporter. Could encourage users to report more, and include more detail, and tackle more complex issues.

Why not just go with the same coin theme as the existing rank icons, but in a different color that indicates a white-hat look & feel, such as green? All of these ideas are great, but most of the suggested icons do not fit the current look and feel of what the forums have to offer.

Sometimes the most subtle changes/additions are the most effective ones. Thoughts?

It doesn't stand out enough for me to encourage users to report more. I think making it unique to the current ranking up ones would be better, and more effective in getting more users to report.

Better even would be bells because they may symbolize bell-ringers.

I leave the design with others as there are clearly more talented.

Hoping I'm not repeating anyone's suggestion here, went through a few pages, but being honest I didn't read the full thread. How about a sniffer dog, with the colour changing as the number of reports rises? Not entirely sold on the colours, but could change them to anything.

I thought those were fish (like Magikarp from Pokemon lol) when I first saw the icons before I read that they were sniffer dogs. Icons that are designed to be so small need to be extremely easy to recognize. Unfortunately, yours are not, mate.

Fair point, I guess simplicity is sometimes the key. I liked the idea though, so tried increasing the size a bit. Maybe they look a little less fish like now I quite like the Sherlock Holmes ones someone did, instantly recognizable.

But reporters don't protect anyone. Moderators are here to protect and punish - reporters just help them, observe and (obviously) report.

Here's an example:



The coin gif is already in use, which means it's royalty-free (I'm assuming), and it's not hard to re-color the existing image that you're already using. The look is uniform, and it matches well with the existing feel of the forums.

I modified the milestones a bit, and maybe you could add a half-coin accent (for the fifth coin) for anyone that submits over 10,000 good reports (to match the existing rank icons).

Yeah, I do agree simplistic changes are effective and look more appropriate. Shields/insignia/caps/nuke, rats/dogs, although all these are very good, IMO, like this one, a simple coin theme that aligns with the existing profile would be better than a "reporter going to war or sniffing around", although that's what reporters (of Bitcointalk) do, but it might look funny and take away the seriousness of time and effort being put into reporting. IMO, this is a good idea, simple and to the point, but not green and milestones can be modified where reporter badge requirements wouldn't end up spamming mods, guess that's all left to spam.

I think that I'm going to add some badges for people who report a bunch of posts. Maybe one for 300 good reports, one of 1000, and one for 5000. Does anyone want to make or find these images? They have to be exactly 16x16 px (like ), and if you find them online, then they must be copyright-free.

I think that the badge should look like a pen on the background of a sheet of paper. The background of the sheet will denote the "productivity" of the author. For example:
Copper sheets - 300;
Silver - 1000;
Gold - 5000.

I chose Red as the color of the "Good report Badge", because for me this color means wealth and strength. From history we know that this is the color of kings...

Strange reply. To me, and most people, the difference between condoms and bells are clear. Most social media platforms also use bell symbols. Have you ever mistaken those for condoms?

Not that it must be bells, but like everyone else here I'm just adding suggestions.
