technically speaking, what would be all of the steps involved in making a "bump two phones together to initiate a money transfer" platform work with bitcoin?

Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

The recipient would give its public key to the sender, and the sender would create a transaction to that public key and send it to the recipient. Then both broadcast it on the network.

It would be like IP transactions.

You could just bump them together. http://bu.mp/. The phones themselves would then exchange public keys and the sender would create the bitcoin transaction.

I once saw this thing about this technology that used the human body as a conduit, so you could keep your phone or other pocktable computing device in your pocket and simply shake hands to seal the deal.
