their secret with other people. If everyone had that skill, all of us would have been filthy rich. You obviously also have to gain

a lot of experience and knowledge about a specific industry or trade to spot the "fake" scams from the real "gems".   Take

the early adopters of Bitcoin for instance... they had to have a good knowledge about the technology and the problem that

it solved for them to take a risk.

very difficult to identify anything extraordinary again in bitcoin; unless some altcoins which have very good projects attached and not yet popular. As initially acknowledged, Bitcoin had little or no attention during 2009, but by 2017 bitcoin has reached its apex. Price would still rise but very difficult to expect something huge like hitherto.

i think you have to knowledge about economy, sociology, crypto and the ability to predict is extraordinary you can determine the big thing like bitcoin.
if not, you should follow ranking of alt coin and have a lucky to determine a coin like bitcoin.

To find the next big gem in the crypto market after bitcoin; you will have to do a lot of hard work. 
First of all you keep eye on new ICOs.  Check the whitepapers of the projects coming in the market.  Check the prospects of the service proposed to be provided by the ICO.  For the success of their service ; check the track record of the team behind the project.
Check the views of experts on these ICOs.  For this you need to have deep study of economic financial papers and also the information / views available here on this platform. 
Also I will suggest you do not invest in some single coin; select few top good coins.  Invest certain percentage of your surplus money in these coins.  Hope one or few of your selections may become the gems of the future.

Well, i don't think you are going to see any other cryptocurrency just similar to the bitcoin because no one can match the popularity and the craze of bitcoin with any other cryptocurrency and even the strength and demand of the bitcoin can't be matched with anyone else. But then also in future there may occur a similar cryptocurrency which can beat the Bitcoin's craze and make some new records in the cryptocurrency market.

Nothing is like bitcoin. Still unmatched in value but there are other altcoins out there that can also be trusted. You better observe them and find out for yourself which one has a big potential. Read crypto news, read more crypto articles, check the coin markets/ exchanges and familiarize yourself. Self education and listen also to experts.

There is a really small chance to hit one like that. I would suggest to invest in already established ones where you are looking to get multiple times (2,3,4x) returns. I know it is not even close compared to investing in 2009 but you will get at least something out of it. Hitting a new 'Bitcoin' is like getting on a lottery.

Hard to say what cryptocurrency will be the next big thing because literally there thousands of altcoins out there and you can't monitor all of them. From what I also experience a lot of cryptocurrency outside of the Top 100 or even top 200 market cap comes flying off to the top 10, so if you are looking for a promising cryptocurrency that will give you unbelievable gains you must try and research them a lot as it is really hard to find the next big thing. Sometimes you also don't need the next big thing all you need is the proper cryptocurrency who will also ride the price rally in order to earn.

The things like bitcoin do not occur in markets certainly. Although, these are invented after decades of struggle of making influential things. Bitcoin is one of them which is most influential currency proven to have a strong market cap in crypto world and companies are doing more struggles to sustain the market cap of bitcoin, and hence there are no chances to invent a next big thing in upcoming decades.

I think if anyone knows what is the next big thing he/she will not share what it is until that it booms out. But for me, i think that bitcoin is still the next big thing. Simply because bitcoin is the future and it will be used in everything.
