I have been following bitcoins for the past 4 years. i am an Enginner. i remember how bitcoin was introduced to Me. To be honest, i was thruogh ponzi. i used to deposit over 0.1,0.4 to earn 0.7 to 0.9 bitcoins and i made a lot of Money. then, suddenly i decided to go for the killer jackpot and stack all my btc for once. i can remember clearly when a friend was advising me NEVER TO PUT ALL My eggs in one basket. i refused to listen and insist that it is only by strong will can one survived.
 Unfortunately I LOST EVERYTHING.  IT was my life saving. Both my earning and my interest.
To cut the story short. i borrow money form the friend that was advising me not to stake everything. i need to pay back. But i will never depart from my lesson learnt from the bitcoin  stuff. i bought another bitcoins last year august and keep it away from anything. i strongly believed that i will still get my money and my friends money.
Thanks to the current Market, I HAVE TO SELL EVERTHING TO PAY MY DEPTHS.

NOW I AM FREEEE.

why you don't try to learn trading instead of gambling, gambling and Ponzi can ruin your life. It can make you lose everything. You should change, that's my advice to you.

I don't know at the price he bought the bitcoin but if you bought them at a high value and if you sell it for a low price then you will be in loss. Compared to last year December the price of bitcoin is low so you made less money compared to his investment.

In short we can assume that he/she did participate in the "panic sell" which mostly most of the peoples got into. This was not at all good for the bitcoins as well as the investors because it is of no use to sell everything you have for loss. Atleast he/she should have HODL some for future to really watch the price for bitcoins grow again.

Well, that is the biggest question around this thread. Cause even it's the market or same month just like year 2017, it will be more different and complicated. Since the community is also become huge in a short interval of time. Disappointment is always in the road but be confident and don't lose hope  about the future of crypto currencies, there will always a rainbow after the rain.

Don't sell the bitcoin. Coming future bitcoin will be help to improve your self and future growth. It best one of the coin. So wait some year and follow the market price day by day. Bitcoin is never end. Nowadays most of the people hold the bitcoin long time and wait for the price high. At least the story had a happy ending, it seems the OP was able to pay all his debts thanks to bitcoin, but the story should tell to us how risky it is to invest money that you cannot afford to lose in something that deep down you know is a scam, it could have been way better that he just held his bitcoins if he did that he could had paid his debts and he could have great profits right now.

 I relate very much to that story. I too have lost a considerable amount, but that is not bitcoin's fault. The tech is astounding and will change the world forever, hopefully for the better. Anyway, If Iw ere you, I would buy back a good chunk, and just lock it away in a safe, and forget about them at least a decade or two. You will surely see you lost value back.
