You should have posted the main purpose of creating fud, it is actually done to create panic among holders so they sell for cheap and the fudders can buy the same asset for low price, so this is a basic strategy to manipulate the market.

The problem with the world we live in is supporters of projects can become so deluded that they ignore very valid criticisms and scream FUD when someone says something they don’t like. Take Verge for example. Supporters defend all the hacks, terrible marketing decisions, sketchy practices etc.

The flip side is people use actual FUD to bring down price or sabatoge projects that are competitors to the project they like best.

Totally right. FUD is fear, uncertainty, doubt. It is a disinformation strategy used to alter perception. It has been used in many instances that have nothing to do with crypto, but it is used very often by the powers that be when discussing crypto.

FUD is opposite of HYPE for me. FUD are there to create negativity about crypto thus making prices dropped then those who have weak hands give up their cryptos. The cycle continues with HYPE and FUD, that makes cryptocurrency volatile.

FUD, simply in my word, means a negative impression associated with fear, doubt, and uncertainty regarding a fact. In crypto space, FUD is used in expressing negative impression towards a coin, token, ICOs, project in a market price position. That means the condition is bad and people are FUD about it.

For me any cryptocurrency that can not survive FUD is not a credible project. FUD differentiate a good coin from a scam coin.
