I'm in the process of putting together a high performance pc with a killer gfx card.
Right now I'm looking at:
High Performance Graphics Card (My friend is giving me one for a discount that puts out a little over 2GH/s)
Any Decent CPU
A fairly modern fan/cooling system
A Decent Hard Drive (Getting 1 500gb for free)
High Performance/Energy Saver Power Supply - $30
Any Decent Motherboard - Really hope to get this as a hand me down from my friend

The mining set-up for a pc is no doubt unique. You have alot of power here, as far as GPU goes anyways. My question is, are there any other GPU intensive tasks that I could be doing aside from Mining? I might want to have a few different ways to make money. Processes similar to mining, or rendering a video. They require power and time. But most importantly, reward you with money!

Any ideas?

Thanks guys.

Are there sites for these services that would pay for you to do these things? Do you have any links?

You can run "Vivi" game, it was working faster when you had better CPU.
And you can make a World Guinness Record in playing Vivi ultra fast.

Red flag - research before you buy, regardless of the discount.

I should've mentioned, this friend is local. He's just got a whole bunch of random computer tech laying around the house. He's letting me "test drive" pretty much whatever I want before I buy, which is great.

You can't mine SHA-256 coins with GPUs, only Scrypt coins.

Scrypt coins hash in the kH/s or mH/s range.  Only ASICS hash in GH/s.

Care to elaborate?  This isn't 2011 or 2012 anymore.  You can't even mine with those USB blue or red furies or even Antminer U1's anymore due to difficulty and network hashrate.

Isn't that the whole point?  If you just want to experiment, go ahead.

I don't think the OP just wants to mine for the hell of it, as most 99.99% of miners.

I've been bouncing around mining various alt SHA-256 coins with my antminers, if one of those hit even a fraction as good as BTC did, I'll be very happy. For me it's more fun and interesting then a money making operation, and truthfully I'd suggest anyone interested in cryptocurrency to give them a try just to get an understanding, they are easy to use and cost much less then a GPU.
