With the kind of technology that blockchain can offer and the performance that bitcoin showed last year I doubt that only 2% of American investors own bitcoin. Maybe this is true, just another FUD ...

2% of Americans (or better United States citizens) would be around 6 million
Let's say that each of those makes one transaction a month!!!!!, and ...wow it matches the number of total transactions in the chain in a month

Of course, you can argue that most are having their coins sitting on coinbase and no in their own wallets and so on but still.....

Considering the western world and adding Japan and SK this would lead to about 50 millions bitcoin owners.
Too bad there are not enough addresses with a balance over 10$ to cover that
