With the kind of technology that blockchain can offer and the performance that bitcoin showed last year I doubt that only 2% of American investors own bitcoin. Maybe this is true, just another FUD or those American investors that are investing into bitcoin wants to evade paying their taxes in crypto so they took advantage of the pseudoanonymity feature that bitcoin can offer. What are your thoughts on this? Do you guys really believe that its just 2% of American Investors own bitcoin? How accurate this can be?

No, I don't believed that only 2% of American has invested on Bitcoin. Yes I would have to agree that we underwent a big change, from $20K to $6K but it doesn't mean that everyone is going out including the Americans. So this is just another fake news to undermine bitcoin rise to prominence in the last couple of years.

If I remember right, that US Gallup poll data is from 2017 and amounts to around 6.5 million people with US population @ approximately 325 million. Recent poll data has shown elevated crypto ownership by US residents & by the rest of the world as well.
There could be an interesting correlation between publicly advertised inflation and crypto ownership as well with nations like turkey who are known to achieve higher than 10% inflation having some of the highest crypto ownership rates in the world. Venezuela also could be on that list.
It is kind of sad that higher crypto ownership could be correlated with economic crisis and high inflation rates but that could well be the trend we will see leading into the future.

the data is only from a small group and they are investors to begin with so 2% can be a correct value. but it in no way represents the whole population or the whole world. when you look at a larger scale then it does not even reach 1% and so far the data (which is from 2017) was during one of the bigger bull runs that bitcoin had and lots and lots of pumps, hypes, advertisements of altcoins which attracted investors even for a short time.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip. Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

This isn't FUD, nor is it some mega machine trying to kill Bitcoin. This is a poll by a reputable company which is simply stating what is fact -- within their margin of error, which is probably within 1-3 percent error -- But I don't know why people find this so weird, Bitcoin is a massiely volatile, and risky alternative investment which is not something which most people want to invest in. Most people don't have the will power to see their investment account lose 50 percent -- or more value in one day -- they want traditional investments which have went up for centuries.

with a country as large and as fast as the United States with a total of 2% investors is a very small amount, and I personally do not really believe in the news or news.

when the result is 2% having a margin of error that is 1% means 50% error, and 3% means the poll was all wrong! But I don't know why people find this so weird, Bitcoin is a massiely volatile, and risky alternative investment which is not something which most people want to invest in. Most people don't have the will power to see their investment account lose 50 percent -- or more value in one day -- they want traditional investments which have went up for centuries.
bitcoin has never lost 50% or more in one day and the drops never came out of nowhere. they always come after a big rise has happened. for example when bitcoin was at the bottom a couple of years ago at $220 we never saw a drop. we saw some panic push-down which didn't even last more than 1 hour which doesn't count as a drop. the drops came after the rises for example bitcoin went from $1000 to $20000 then it had the big drop over 6 months. I am just nitpicking about the math though. but I agree with what you said. it is the volatility that makes some people not-want to invest in bitcoin and also the unregulated situation of bitcoin market and also all the FUD.

This argument isn't going to help when it comes to the world of polling, as all polling is done like this in order to find out information. It would make no sense to attempt to poll hundreds of millions of people when you're going to be able to get close to the same data through the use of a couple thousand people. with a country as large and as fast as the United States with a total of 2% investors is a very small amount, and I personally do not really believe in the news or news.
And why is this? I think this is because people don't WANT to believe the facts. Bitcoin creator "Satoshi" has 3 million to 5 million Bitcoins
And?

The thing is not all investors have a appetite for high risk investments, so the figure might still be very low, because people regard Bitcoin as a high risk investment. A lot of these investors are also totally clueless about the technology or misinformed by mass media, so there is still a lot of work that has to be done, to educate these people. The only reason why some of these investors, invested in Bitcoin was because Bitcoin was the top performing Currency/Commodity in both 2016 and 2017.

Stop with the FUD, every damn thing is FUD!!! 2% of Americans (or better United States citizens) would be around 6 million Let's say that each of those makes one transaction a month!!!!!, and ...wow it matches the number of total transactions in the chain in a month )) Of course, you can argue that most are having their coins sitting on coinbase and no in their own wallets and so on but still..... What do you think is a fair number? 5%? Considering the western world and adding Japan and SK this would lead to about 50 millions bitcoin owners. Too bad there are not enough addresses with a balance over 10$ to cover that

BTC's current price is more than 8,000 US dollars, many people can't afford it! So 2% of US investors holding BTC itself have already stated that it is excellent!

From my point of view bit coin growing very fast in us market. Already they took some initiative to catch more people. Already many people join here. When the EFT will approve then more people feel interest about this sector. I think this assumption is not right already a lot of people join this plartfrom.

I would seriously question the 2% figure? I would be surprised if it was as high as that, given that there are about 327 million in America that would mean that over 6.5 million Americans own Bitcoin?
Where did that % come from? and how did they arrive at it?

Is it reliable news? If it’s true it can happen for it’s fluctuation of 20k$ to 7k$. But I think this will changed after long times. And again Bitcoin will increases.

Seems that the percent must be bit bigger because Coinbase was the most popular app on the app store in January. So just imagine, how many persons bought a bit of bitcoin or another crypto.

I think there has been some fault in the calculation or the sample they have chosen were very few, as a result it is showing only 2% people hold BTC in USA which is hard to believe. Many big investors of USA should hold maximum amount of bitcoins than most of the world's population if you have done your study properly on the market. I don't trust the news at all.

Well post some links here on the claim that only 2% of the American investors own bitcoin because literally we do not believe on it when this forum is dominated by english language which means that the people here are mostly the american people or if not then we can clearly identify who clearly had the greatest number or volume of members who engage in cryptocurrency here in the forum. Eventually it does not make sense at all the US government is strictly implementing the cryptocurrency regulations which boasted also the confidence of American people to join and invest in cryptocurrency that includes bitcoin.

I don't really think that only 2% American Investors own Bitcoin. Although I agree that Bitcoin has been going through an underchange but that doesn't mean all the American Investors are out of Bitcoin, there are still many people who are holding on to Bitcoin.
