I dont see anything wrong in this. People actually work hard to rank up their accounts on the forum. If they cannot stay active on forum anymore, their account is getting inactive and they cannot contribute to forum anymore, why not earn some bucks out of it by selling the account?
I do see something wrong with this, as do many of the people on this forum. Aside form what has already been mentioned, these accounts can be used in an attempt to scam/cheat unsuspecting individuals. These accounts are tied to the people who built them, and as such those credentials, trust, being a big one should not be handed over to someone who did not earn it.
But, there should be a system where it can be checked whether the new owner of the account is worthy of such rank and whether he/she can contribute to the forum accordingly.
Seeing as the current system of DT members tagging these accounts is being circumvented, why would any system that makes the practice taboo or adds restrictions succeed in it's place.
Buying and selling of bitcointalk accounts cannot be stopped as there is no track on who sold it or who bought it.
It can't be stopped. What can be done is the incentive of big earnings and payouts can be taken away by tagging the accounts and the sellers
Same was with clash of clans game, if you know about it. It wasn't acceptable but anyways people used to buy/sell and trade their account.
Not the same in any realm
