I'm thinking of a suggestion to put a rank requirement on Announcement Section.

Since in Ivory Tower section, users with Full Member and up are the ones who can post there, I'm thinking of putting a rank requirement in order to post in the Announcement section. Maybe the requirement is you must have a rank of Member - Legendary and Copper Members.

In my observation, users who are ranked Newbies and Jr. members are the ones who are spammers especially on the Announcement section. I think this can help us a little in cleaning the forum for me. This is applied on Announcement Section only Smiley. Just a suggestion anyway. If my suggestion doesn't help the forum, I will lock it immediately.

In order to get the maximum amount of activity points possible, you just need to post once per day on average. Skipping days is OK as long as you maintain the average.

This has been discussed several times if I'm not mistaken, but I would like to reply.
I like the idea but, it will surely bring some problems. As we can see, most of members who were posting Announcement threads in Announcement section are Newbies from different ICOs. More ICOs are beginning to advertise their projects and in order to advertise here in Bitcointalk, they will (of course) create a new account to post ANN threads. Now let's assume that we restrict Newbies and Jr. Members to post in ANN section. What do you think will happen now? Smiley
But I guess Announcement section will really become so quiet if this idea was implemented since almost 90% of members posting there are Newbies and Jr. Members.

However I think this won't be the solution to stop spammers in that section. This idea is not enough to kill the root of the problem.

Maybe it will lessen the spammers on the forum. At least this is what I am thinking Smiley.

It will be better compare to very noisy section but most of the noisy users are just Newbies and Jr. Members who are just spamming the whole section.

However I think this won't be the solution to stop spammers in that section. This idea is not enough to kill the root of the problem.
I am saying is it can lessen spamming even a little bit. I'm not saying that it will be enough to kill the root of the problem but at least it will help especially for those who are constantly reporting every day. Anyway, this is just my suggestion and I'm expecting some to negate it.

I wish these threads must be paid attention by the admins because we(even I am just starting to help) are helping this forum clean Smiley

And in order for them to post ANN thread, they must be a Copper Member.
If you will only take time visit ANN threads in ANN section you will found out that even Copper Members are spamming. So there's no difference between a Normal Newbie and A Copper Newbie.

And one more thing, not all Newbies and Jr. Members who we're posting in ANN section are spammers. I've seen some members posting (Somehow good posts than "Good, Interesting project posts") in there and left them unreported.

But overall, like what I said. I still like the idea since almost all of my reported members are Newbies and Jr. Members.

Yes it will somehow lessen spammers and I agree with that, but I'm sure than in the other side this idea have some disadvantages.

You're right. But what we need now is something that will kill the main root of the problem. Let's just wait for other members to give their suggestions about this idea.

Anyway, it's good to see you as a member of SpamBuster Club. It's the current idea that can help the forum free from spammers.

Then you should just bumped those threads with this idea Smiley Creating another thread for topics that has been discussed several times are something, Mods really hates.

I am all for some restriction on who can and can't post in there because it's colossally abused by get rich quick scammers and often ref spammers, but limiting it to rank would mean that new users to the forum can't make their announcements there. What I have suggested in the past in charging a fee to be able to list your ANN thread, though the purchase of something like a Copper Membership would also work, which many of them buy anyway to be able to post images. Copper Membership is next to nothing though so I still think some sort of fee would be better, or a higher rank is required. The amount of workload and spam Alt coins and token ICOs generate is ridiculous, and staff are left to run around after them cleaning up the mess they are paying people to make and all whilst profiting off it sometimes in the millions. This can't and shouldn't be acceptable, especially for the poorly run campaigns who do absolutely nothing about spam that they are directly causing.
