I think I got 3 of these damn emails today alone.  I’m pretty sick of this and it looks like people have lost interest in this thread, but if someone wants to try and track this AH down, Bitcoin address is in tact.  It sounds like it would be very difficult, but it does not seem like it should be.

There is a new blockchain service called white rabbit which will attempt to store the bad btc addresses such as those in the email. However, it will only be effective if the exchanges agree to block them from use

Bitcoin using email as back up is a good one, which is applicable to blockchain.wallet info. And the email address has been used for security purposes for any point in time to login authorization.

I just got an email that I pasted below the asterisks.  The only thing they have right is an old password that I still use for forums I’ve belonged to for years.  Mostly computer and photography related forums.  They are telling me they have videos from a porn site and my web cam and well, you can read the email.  I do not have a web cam, nor do I use Messenger, Outlook or Facebook.  I removed my password from the email.  Their BTC address is listed, tho I removed the last 4 characters for the purpose of posting here.  They are demanding $1,000 within 24 hours.  I do believe this is a scam of some sort.  If I click on reply, there is no address and if I try to look at all headers in the email, it is not available.  Never seen that before.  Is there a way to trace this person and find out who they are?  I am not sending them anything.

One thing I did notice the other day is that a proxy program I run always in Firefox got turned off the other day.  That’s never happened before.

*************************************************

It seems that, (*****************), is your password. You may not know me and you are probably wondering why you are getting this e mail, right?

actually, I put in place a trojans over the adult vids (adult porn) web-site and you know what, you visited this web site to have fun (you know what I mean). While you were watching videos, your internet browser began working like a RDP (Remote Access) which provided accessibility of your screen and web cam. and then, my computer software obtained all of your current contacts from your Messenger, Outlook, Facebook, as well as emails.

What did I really do?

I made a double-screen video clip. First part shows the video you're seeing (you have a good taste haha . . .), and 2nd part shows the recording of your web camera.

exactly what should you do?

Well, in my opinion, $1000 is a fair price for your little secret. You'll make the payment by Bitcoin (if you do not know this, search "how to buy bitcoin" in Google).

BTC Address: 15mwbKGQ2MMQW91G6VUwHx8huEFRZZ****
(It is case sensitive, so copy and paste it)

Very important:
You've got 1 day in order to make the payment. (I have a completely unique pixel within this e mail, and at this moment I know that you have read through this email message). If I don't get the BitCoins, I will certainly send out your videos to all of your contacts including family members, colleagues, and so forth. Having said that, if I get the payment, I'll destroy the recording immidiately. If you'd like evidence, reply with "Yes!" and i'll undoubtedly send your videos to your 6 contacts. It is a non-negotiable offer, that being said don't waste my personal time and yours by answering this message.
I think it has happened a lot now that they are using people or investors who are panicking and not sure what they are investing if they believe I don't think you will be affected by the news

The increase in Bitcoin's cost and the increasing incidence of extortion by blackmail hackers who steal confidential data go hand in hand. This does not mean that bitcoin is to blame for something, but, obviously, cyber-currency has become one of the components of this problem - companies buy bitokines to protect against hacker attacks.

How deftly the scammers work. They think you can just get a password. Scammers in this case wanted to bring people to the emotions and make a person nervous that he began to do personal and illegal actions in a panic, went directly to the wallet on the link they offer, and at this moment they would have taken possession of it. Trick which were not many experienced users of the Internet.

When prices are dumped, many people panic so they cannot do analysis before acting, this is what makes bitcoin difficult to rise and continue to be dumped.

Because that's the only embarrassing moment one could have while watching porn, Shame on you for visiting such websites

He never said he visited such websites
What's shameful in looking at a porn website, my dear untouchable?
Oh wait, just two years ago you were ready to buy porn with bitcoins...

There is something called 'gun' and you can kill with it but you see banning by government or trying to ban made people not to use and kill with it?
Since when these things stops people? I would like to send some bitcoins for some high quality porn, but they can also verify age by just a short video chat you know before giving access to such as however already free porn is accessible with no trouble for under aged people sadly.

What's up with the 180 view change on watching porn, did the account change hands?  Grin
Anyway, you're on the wrong forum if you want to start judging people!!!

It's just that this forum is also infested with newbies who don't know a thing but also your case is just....one in a million.

Those ip addresses and that bitcoin addresses will not get you far.
Most likely they use servers bought with stolen cards or even paid with bitcoin.
And now seriously, what if you find that this guy is X from Moscow? Are you going to fly to Moscow and wait for him around a corner with a baseball bat?

I know it is annoying to get those emails, probably sooner or later most people here will get one or two but the best way is to ignore them.
The only right way to get this guy would be to contact the police but not I doubt they will give it that much importance even if it could be classified as extortion.

Thanks for sharing your story. I'm sure that he doesn't have your video. I just wonder why that scammer didn't want money but required you to pay hush money in Bitcoin. we had better be alert with such emails. You're right when you were calm to judge the situation and didn't follow the fraudulent deal.

He just intimidated you into paying him hush money, That video doesn't exist because you say you don't have a webcam. He said he will send it to your 6 contacts. That was obviously a lie, 'cause you don't have Messenger, Outlook, etc. What was used to blackmail is not Bitcoin, but the inner fear of the receivers. The scammer just mentioned Bitcoin at the end of the email as a method of paying. So I think this is not a Bitcoin scam, but a regular scam.

It happens because people are free to use bitcoin as they want as a result criminals also take the opportunity and use bitcoin for this kind of bad activities.

It is a scam. Yeah we have already so many stories like you.
They are using bitcoin to blackmail people. It seems that there are so many individuals already know the nature of bitcoin. And they will use it in their crime just to earn somthing.

Don't fall for this type of blackmailing. There was a big hackers attack in Ukraine a while ago, almost all computers where blocked with the same kind of message, but the hackers did not recieve the money as far as I know.
