Actum Lab, an augmented reality (AR) company, is preparing to revolutionize the AR industry by releasing The arVerse Project. The project aims to provide a new generation of AR platform and decentralized ecosystem, powered by the blockchain technology.

The arVerse Project did not come from a few people seeking a new business idea. It came from seeing an existing problem – fragmentation in the Augmented Reality Community. Currently, there are many companies working on their own products. What they should be doing instead is work on a unified, open-source solution to enable and invite the wider public to work on the next generation of Augmented Reality Technology.

The Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) market is expected to grow from less than 10 billion dollars in 2017 to 215 billion in 2021, according to IDC.



 
The arVerse Project is an initiative aiming to change our world by adding new, AR-based Digital Dimension on top of the real world. Everyone with a smartphone or smartglasses could enter the arVerse Digital Dimension and experience Augmented Reality in the new, powerful way. Every real object in our world could have additional AR content assigned to it. Just by observing the reality through an arVerse compatible device, you will witness completely new, virtual enhancements which will make your life easier and smarter. From navigation hints, current activities overview, personalized heads-up display to digital objects and animations sticked to the particular places, or even AR events and games - all of those scenarios will be available to create in the arVerse Ecosystem.

Imagine a world where virtual content is seamlessly integrated with reality. Such world may provide relevant and personalized information to the viewer; individuals could easily collaborate with each other by sharing virtual content despite being in different locations; and businesses could leverage the power of Augmented Reality to efficiently develop their workforce.

Picture how AR could be used to address the challenges an individual faces on a daily basis: one could use AR navigation tools to avoid getting lost in a new city; a heads-up display could provide notifications reminding the user of an upcoming appointment; even a tedious task of finding items in a grocery store could be made easier by AR hints guiding the user through a crowded supermarket.

Our vision is to provide a unified Augmented Reality ecosystem to simplify and accelerate the process of developing powerful AR experiences. Creating a new AR experience should be as easy as uploading a picture on Facebook.

The arVerse relies on Industry 4.0, a new generation of technologies utilizing blockchain and Augmented Reality to change our economic landscape. Blockchain in The arVerse Project has been adopted in the following ways:


Blockchain based voting system for important decision on the project development
One of the biggest problems affecting majority of projects is the distribution of power. Usually, a limited group of engineers has a right to decide on the direction of project development. In The arVerse Project, the control is given to the people. The community decides on the platform’s evolution and its rules.
 

Blockchain-based secure transaction system
The arVerse Coin will serve as a digital currency and value carrier in this newly created ecosystem; it will grant users access to the powerful AR scenarios, leveraging the power of blockchain technology to provide the necessary security level to enable a seamless transactional system. This Smart Contract based economy will ensure that fair business practices are enforced for the arVerse community members.


Storage of assets
All assets created for the arVerse Platform and available in the Marketplace will be stored in a decentralized database using IPFS protocol. Because the community is a core value of The arVerse Project, we feel that it is important to provide a non server-client architecture as a basic way to store assets used on the Platform.

The whole arVerse Ecosystem will provide a unique opportunity for crypto miners to utilize their computing power not only for cryptocurrency mining, but also for 3D rendering objects by joining the arVerse Rendering Network.


We believe that in order to push Augmented Reality into mainstream, 3D objects rendering has to be done in the cloud, so wearables can become lightweight and seamless.  Since rendering is essential in functioning of arVerse Ecosystem, providers of computing power will be rewarded in ARV coins for the services provided.

So the project purpose is to build "new generation" of AR technology, or rather sophisticated ecosystem, where blockchain will play major role. In short term, we believe that it has to be opened, decentralized and community-driven platform, as Augmented Reality is perceived as a technology which could be reviolutionary as Internet. We cannot imagine building the AR revolution is closed way, without transparency, decentralization and crowd wisdom.
