SatoshiCoin (all transactions are backed up by the money put in the machine.  starts at 1 satoshi tomorrow. will double each day.  then the value of the coin is backed up by the total amount put in (hopefully bigger than 50 BTC)  then we can split the genesis block with the lot of u.  unless some mad man wants to claim my deep storage facility (currently protected by armed officers of Pinellas county in Florida)

I think BTC is here to stay, but I doubt we'll see many huge price gains over the next year or so. I think people are comfortable with the idea of 1 BTC = $1000 or thereabouts. Anything above is overbought, and anything below is oversold. For that reason, BTC is not in my list, purely because I don't think it'll make any huge gains on any investment you put in.

Coins I think will make excellent investment opportunities in 2014:

• NEM (New Economy Movement) - It is coded from scratch; it's not a clone. It takes NXT and improves it to a whole new level: phenomenally better distribution (3000+ people); improved coin-generation (Proof of Importance) which discourages coin-hoarding; a friendly, active community; charitable philosophies with 10% of the coin supply dedicated to charity and give-aways; serious, talented and helpful developers who chat regularly; a fully-functioning one-click-install client on launch; a decentralised asset exchange on launch... the list goes on.
• NXT (NeXT) - It's the first 2nd generation cryptocurrency, and solves many of the problems Bitcoin and other PoW coins had. However, it's poor initial distribution and the withholding of the source code may hinder it quite a bit. Like NEM, it has 100% original code; it's unique and not a clone of any other coin.
• VTC (Vertcoin) - The only PoW coin I think has a chance. The entire point of cryptocurrency is it's decentralised nature. VTCs attempt to eradicate the increasingly pervasive problem of scrypt ASICs is noble; I think it has a strong future.

i think ripple might interest some of you, it's more than just a 'coin', it's a complete payment system with an exchange built in.  you can trade both fiat currency and cryptos in ripple.

I think Ethereum will be a good short term investment but it's not a community I would want to associate with (it is unethical).  It's technically a copyrighting coin (journalist coin) like Mastercoin and they'll probably, unfortunately (since it's deceit), will end up suckering impressionable victims to pump it.
