I'm located in Toronto, Canada. What pool should I join?

ping poolers.org and see how it is for you. The server is in North America but not Canada.
Code:
Pinging poolers.org [162.159.246.159] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 162.159.246.159: bytes=32 time=18ms TTL=57
Reply from 162.159.246.159: bytes=32 time=13ms TTL=57
Reply from 162.159.246.159: bytes=32 time=11ms TTL=57
Reply from 162.159.246.159: bytes=32 time=13ms TTL=57

Ping statistics for 162.159.246.159:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 11ms, Maximum = 18ms, Average = 13ms

That's good right?
That's not good....that's GREAT!
I wish i had a pool that got me an avg of 13ms, I'm usually around 27ms avg. (im in NE America.....ie: central pennsylvania)

Not bad, thats through 2 layers of DDoS protection proxies too. Server is in Texas.

He's closer to Texas than I am, yet he has higher latency? Haha wow..

For future reference, does pinging the website usually give a good idea of whether I have a good latency or not? I thought it depends on where the server is located too.

Btw poolers doesn't seem to be in the list of pools in the OP?

This pool is absolute scam. They steal coins from people and never reply to emails. Their pool is now marked as scam in the list of Mint pool:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=450381.0
Many people including me lost a lot of coins with this scam.

Distance matters but you can be in the same state as the server an not get 13 ms.  It has a lot to do with your ISP and how many hops it is routing you through to get to the destination server. Sometimes they are retarded about it and they go first to a server that is further away, and then come back to the final destination. Doing a traceroute should show you where its going.

it's gonna be the greatest shitstorm since maxcoin =))) called it
Yes lets hope this launch is one that gets it right the first time! I was part of that nightmare with max,,, what a fool I was to have wasted my time and effort,,, and electricity lol

Come on midnight! Smiley

dev you better be prepared for the freakazoids screaming orphans and fail pools Smiley see ya in 3 hrs ...

You got this right, I've recently been in on the RubyCoin and BlackCoin launches and no matter how well they've done things people are whining and crying days into it. It's all an attempt to FUD the miners into selling cheap and to abandon mining so it's easier mining for those that remain. Be ready for it when it comes, it gets very old, like a broken record as they tell us how they're just trying to look out for our welfare with this $%(*&@ coin.

not everybody was bitching to spread fud. I was on ruby at launch and due to crooked pools and general goddamn morons instead of 50,000 coins during the low difficulty i got a few hundred. Total bullshit man, waste of time left work early did my part and got hosed. We really need people to step it up and get it right during launch. and more important expose the scammer pools asap!

Hi, I think the launch snuck up on me!   I'd like to add a pool to the list to be ready at launch:  http://zeit.poolest.com

Poolest has a solid reputation in MINT mining as you can see here: http://www.reddit.com/r/MintCoin/comments/1z1vf0/its_the_poolest_has_grown_and_still_charges_zero/  Now we're looking to expand, and we find ZEIT to be a very attractive prospect.  As usual the pool will be ZERO fees for both mining and automatic payouts.

Here are the details:
http://zeit.poolest.com
STRATUM:   stratum+tcp://zeit.poolest.com
PORT:   3336
PAYOUT:    PPLNS
FEES:        ZERO!
SERVER:     Fast and dedicated (NO VM's)

Could I be added to the list in time for launch?

One more question:  Do pools receive the wallet in advance, or will I have to wait for 30 min prelaunch like everyone else?  If so, I don't expect it to be a problem.

I know this is short notice, so if you need to contact me directly please do with naturetm (<at>) naturetm.com.

Thanks!  Can't wait to launch.  See you at the pool ;-)

One thing is for sure, we will weed out the weak and unprepared pools quickly with this much enthusiasm and miners getting geared up to mine at midnight on their perspective pools..... early dogecoin pools ,,,what a mess... lets hope all the pools in here have done their homework, as we shall soon see Smiley
