You can certainly mine with a GPU rig on Quark algorithm. You're just not going to get the high hashrates you're used to.

This looks good Smiley Especially since I've got time tomorrow and only a CPU for mining Wink

Anybody have a recommendation for which pool and miner to choose for an Ubuntu system on an Intel i7 3770 ?

This one looks good, but the last commit is 6 months ago, and the network graph is all over the place: https://github.com/Neisklar/quarkcoin-cpuminer

I'm still kinda new to the whole mining gig, so take all of this with a grain of salt.

This pool: http://propcoin.ru/qb/index.php looks pretty nice on first glance, but requires email confirmation for withdrawals, and I haven't gotten mine yet (~30 min). 0.1 QB fee per withdrawal.
This pool: http://qbc.akpool.net/QBC/public/index.php looks a little fishy because of sparse docs and weird spelling/wording. It charges 10x less - 0.01 per manual payout, but doesn't say anything about auto-payout fees. BUT no email confirmation required.

I'm compiling CPU miner: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=55038.msg654850#msg654850 which worked before for me, but I'm somewhat unsure whether it won't be suboptimal.

This miner: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=310975.0 has a fee built-in :/ Plus, not open source - pass.

Surely missing your own launch is unprofessional. Not saying I'm out, though.

same here.  official web page:

www.quarkbar.org --> [Wallet Download] --> 404 Not Found

okay so it's going to be released at 11:50 GMT and password posted at 12:00.  Would be nice to have that on the website instead of 404 error.
