If the SEC approves do you think it will have a global impact on other financial regulators? Will this possibly pave the way for an explosion in bitcoin value? Please share your thoughts. Thanks!

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

to be honest, no i still don't think they are going to approve it this time either. although there has been positive signs saying otherwise i still believe they will use lack of regulations as an excuse and reject this one soon enough.

if it is approved there may be more of them coming though, all around the world and the price will have an excited rise but we still need solid bitcoin adoption for a solid growth. ETF is not changing much about that slow process.

There is a FOMO brewing...

.Yes, I think he will definitely approve! However, this may not be in September. Probably, they can approve in 2019 first quarter. They can use this delay right

I think this year it will not happen. I think that the market is not yet ready for this. I'm not sure that there is a great need for this.

I don't think so. They will still stall any potential development for bitcoin even if it means profit in a huge scale. They have been explicitly disapproving any ETFs arising even though they seem to be positive and approving the idea at first. Stalling the decision is likely a tactic to build up anticipation only to dump on the poor hopefuls who thought that the recent increase is unstoppable due to the SEC 'reconsidering' their decision and giving the ETFs a chance. It will likely be a no again but still, let's hope that perhaps they'll have a change of heart.

IMO it is not relevant at all whether the SEC will approve an ETF. And i honestly also don't believe this will happen (yet).

I am not understanding the call for an ETF. Bitcoin was created to be a free decentralized currency.
Why people want the approval for an ETF from the government is beyond my imagination. The only reason i can think of is the hope for 'new money coming in'.

The times to get rich quick with simply holding bitcoins are over. I am confident that the BTC/$ price will rise in the future. But hoping for another bull run and/or to get rich with a few bucks invested is just delusional.

However, at some point the SEC will approve an ETF. They can't ignore the calls for an ETF forever.
But it might just not happen this year. IMO that's perfectly fine. I wouldn't expect a big jump in price after an approval/denial too.

For the sake of argument, let's say that SEC approved Bitcoin ETF, I think it will have a impact but I'm guessing it will have a short term effect only. We all speculate that it can bring tons of money, similar to what CBoE and CME did. Yes it did, however, the effect didn't last long, we did enjoy a good peak at $20000, but things suddenly goes on a downward spiral. So we might see the same consequences along the way if Bitcoin ETF gets approves.

Yes, I am very sure they will approve even though maybe not for now. And I believe, if the agreement has gone down, then it will greatly affect the price of bitcoin and altcoin. We should wait together, further developments regarding that

The question is, will it become a natural growth for bitcoin? Hell no. It'll be another great pump and dump for bitcoin. Which is i'm kinda sick of this rollercoaster rides. But i guess it can't be help, i'll just take the ride and close my eyes. What i wish to happen is for merchants even small, even just a merchant a day, will permanently accept bitcoin as payment. This can pave a very concrete way for bitcoin. I don't want bitcoin to go sky-high, i just wanted bitcoin to be used by everyone in their daily lives.

everyone is waiting for September! now the most important thing is that they again do not postpone the meeting for the new year! if again transferred, then bitcoin may fall to 3000 dollars! if there is approval, there will be a new wave of growth!

Sadly no, I don’t think it will be approved & when it’s at first delayed & then rejected the next time it’ll make the price dump again. I’d love to be wrong & to see approval but I don’t think so, not yet.

I think the SEC is just playing games with Bitcoiners at the moment. Is there really enough investor demand for a Bitcoin ETF?

It is not as if the SEC were totally flooded with comments with the last round of "public" comments that was requested by

them.  Roll Eyes  The SEC committee had a 3 to 1 vote on the Winklevoss application, so why would the outcome be any different

with the CBOE application?   Roll Eyes Huh

I don't see why this would be such a big deal? A bitcoin futures market is a dumb idea. There may be certain situations where an investor can gain some exposure to bitcoin via an ETF and use it to balance a counter-risk. But for most people you would do far better to just buy some bitcoin.

An ETF will be approved eventually, maybe not this time around due to recent instabilities in the price, but they can't ignore it indefinitely. Once it is accepted the floodgates will open and bitcoin will rise as much as gold did

with this current situation. I do not see anythinh different from the las SEC meeting. Nothing has change much. And the btc tecnology needs to be revised for the reasonable purpose. But it will be approved eventually, the reason is high demand and the BTC potential itself

SEC actually can ignore these ETFs but they won't. The people who want these ETFs to get approved aren't actual bitcoiners. And these people know the people representing the SEC,so there are possibilities where people might actually collide here, by finding a loophole and thus making the entire collusion in good/bad faith, but at the end of the day, they get what they want.

Why people want the ETF to get approved is fucking simple:

Most of the stock market investors are old egoistic pile of shit, they don't have enough knowledge/ are very ignorant to invest in bitcoin, but an ETF changes everything in their perspective, and whoever gets the ETF approved gets fucking rich.

I think the SEC is just playing games with Bitcoiners at the moment. Is there really enough investor demand for a Bitcoin ETF?
Yep. There is demand. People in the US have gone crazy after bitcoin and most of them aren't good in using crypto. ETF is the way for them.

Short answer is No.

When the declined the Winklevoss ETF last year they said that the reason was because most trades were happening on unregulated exchanges where prices were being manipulated. At the time the Chinese exchanges dominated.

The Chinese exchanges have gone, but the majority of trades still happen on place like BitMex, Bitfinex and so on.

The regulated exchanges like Coinbase and Gemini don't do that much business. Untill the regulated exchanges start dominating bitcoin trading, the SEC is going to keep denying permission for bitcoin ETFs.

One cannot say with surety that SEC will approve CBOE's bitcoin ETF but it is for sure that market wants this to be approved. if it gets approved then we will see a bitcoin rally which will also help other coins to rise and increase market confidence.

Don't gets your hopes to high because the approval is s not gonna happen I really think SEC will not approve for now they are just making an excuse for this not having any approval what so ever, But I think it is OK we don't really need them, Cryptocurrency will still increase in value with or with out them, It always be that way, Let's just wait for the Bull run even if not this year, We still have a lot of years to come.

I think it will happen sooner or later. The SEC will not be able to refuse Bitcoin ETF for a long time because the demand for bitcoin is growing every day. I think they will do it, otherwise they will lose a lot of potential profits.

I think they will approve it at the end. At the time they may have some doubts and probably they can't find the joint attitude that is the reason why it takes so long. Still I'm expecting good news and hope the good influence on Bitcoin.
But if opposite happens and they don't approve it this will not be the end of the world, although this might influence Bitcoin on negative way, at least temporary. Still we have plenty of time afterwards to make things right.

This will fail again, because if they really wanted this to be approved theres no need to schedule extensions, they have no reason to extend the decisions since it has been same issue year ago.ETF will be denied again, and will again.

This means one thing, stop waiting for the big growth and just focus on what is market giving us today because what matter what happens life in crypto will continue

It seems to me that the SEC would be beneficial to approve of the bitcoin ETF. But, they didn't do it before, so why would anything change now?

of course, but bitcoin must get support from other factors such as buying more than sales, no FUD, and lots of good news about crypto.

but, if the SEC is accepted and does not get support from other aspects, then the value of bitcoin will only be able to stabilize and survive the decline.

I think that is true, the SEC's decision will have a big impact on the condition of bitcoin. This is evidenced by two events filing a bitcoin ETF which was a crucial decision by the SEC, namely when the proposal was submitted in June by Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, the founders of crypto exchange Gemini were rejected. The price of bitcoin is dipped 3 percent to $ 7,880 following the news, according to data from Coinbase.
Then prices surged back to $ 8300 after rumors said that the SEC would approve bitcoin-based trading. The conclusion is that the regulation of the SEC has a big influence on the development of bitcoin.

I don't see it happening. Last night's Bitmex pump and dump shows you exactly where the power lies. Big whales are shorting the price of BTC while hopeful pawns are buying this market with hope. The stories of hope keep giving the bulls enough life to stay in the fight, but this is a losing battle where bears are feeding on eager bulls. Set your stop losses. The last ETF decision news came early.

Yeah the proposal for tomorrow wont go through as they are pricing sales relative to futures contracts that are frankly too new to insure investor protections around. Those protections being the chief reason why the etf needs to exist, they don't have a purpose otherwise. An insured means of investment will likely result in an ownership increase of two or three fold imo. Lack of being the major block for many interested individuals who've yet to jump in. ESPECIALLY given the effect of futures trading had on the market at least for the short term. (historically the effect of futures trading is negligible as time goes on)

I read some articles regarding this but most of them were saying that they were just playing with it but at last they won't approve it and dump the market by hype their result all over. But ETF is not much important to bitcoin so don't care about their accpetance or rejection.

If the SEC approves do you think it will have a global impact on other financial regulators? Will this possibly pave the way for an explosion in bitcoin value? Please share your thoughts. Thanks!

No.

Simply because the market is really prone to manipulation as evident of what's happening earlier.

Here is a good topic to look at: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4936229.0

There's clearly manipulations of the price and I don't think SEC will like that. See the price goes down again after that big spike. So I wouldn't put any expectations of a Bitcoin ETF approval in the horizon.

By all the signs out there, looks like they will still give excuses and deny the ETF approval for now. No matter how much regulations and policies are put up, they will still give excuses to deny the proposal, at least for now. The market is still not yet ready. The price manipulation is causing people to stay away form bitcoin. We need more stronger support and adoption which will in turn help us get ETF approval.

to me, i think they will approve it, from the way things are going now, and how the adoption of bitcoin is increasing by day, even with much demands, SEC will see reasons but for the approval to affect the value of bitcoin if at all it happens, will take time.

Nope I do not think it will be approved as nothing has changed from the time they have denied the last application.  If the market sells off its a great time to load up on cheap coins for the next run.

be honest, i don't think it will get approved now, it's hard because they need time to have a rules for that, and if the SEC approve ETF. it will get big change of bitcoin's value now.

For me it will also reject, because as I believe in Bitcoin. Bitcoin don't need anymore ETF. Because in ETF, they will create fake bitcoin, bitcoin paper something like that. Being decentralization of Bitcoin will be lost, we really don't need ETF at all.
