Yes, but if they lost most of the money, then there is a chance all the users will get like 5 dollars compensation. Which of course will be pointless. Think about it - mt gox has maybe a few million dollar left while they owe half a billion.
I'm sure the layers will get their share though.

That's a very good question. I suspect that "mtgoxrecovery" is a scam. They don't give a name, an address, or a phone number. They claim to have a law firm representing them, but don't say who it is. Their domain is registered through an anonymous domain service in Panama. Their IP address runs through a anonymizing DDOS-prevention service. That doesn't look good.

Do not send them any account information or identity information.

Who is we ?

More to the point, how is providing them with information going to lead to a better outcome than providing it to those who are now officially in charge of overseeing/investigating MtGox?

What possible justification is there for the people behind mtgoxrecovery and the legal firm they have supposedly retained choosing to remain anonymous?  That they are not publicly disclosing their identities and the name of the law firm they have supposedly retained is more than enough reason to regard them with suspicion.
