Mornin folks,

Quick question... so, I burnt up my last PSU truing to run all 3 hash cards on my S9 off a 110...it worked great for a week, but once I added a second S9...one of the psu’s crapped the bed.

Thankfully I did not damage the miner, and currently just have 1 miner running on the still working PSU. But just the 2 outer cards to be safe...

Once I get the new PSU I just ordered., I plan on running it as well to my second s9 miner, and just the two outer cards as well only due to current electric setup of just 110 availability... and am looking at about a month until i can get 220 power rigged up.

HERE’s MY BRILLIANT IDEA/QUESTION

While I wait for the 220 power to be rigged...CAN I USE/buy a 3rd PSU to power the middle cards on EACH of the miners? So basically... one PSU running 2 cards on 1 miner... another PSU running just 2 cards on the 2nd miner... and then a 3rd PSU split off running the middle card on each miner?

Ive searched over and over but couldnt find a concrete anwser...

Thanks folks. -Wharf

Yes you can, just do it exactly like you described such that you do NOT power any hashboard with multiple psu's as they'll fight each other and cause mayhem.

I don't believe in superstition because it's bad luck: 13thF1oor6CAwyzyxXPNnRvu3nhhYeqZdc
These aren't the Droids you're looking for: S5 & S7 (Sold), R4B2, R4B4 (RIP), 2x S9 obsolete, 2xS15-28, S17-56, S17-70

Not sure your exact miner model but you will be pulling ~23-24 amps at 120v with 2 miners running all three cards each, so you will need to be pulling power from separate breakers and also make sure there is nothing else pulling power on those circuits.  If you’re not careful with the power you can trip a breaker or worse.  Look for 20 amp circuits over 15 amps.  Your safest bet would be to use a 220v 30 amp dryer circuit and then you can run 3-4 miners from a basic PDU.

It is usually a bad idea to power a miner with multiple PSUs, because if the PSU connected to the controller board dies, the fans will stop spinning and the miner will melt.

Ignore scammers on Skype, Telegram, etc. I will only ever contact you via forum PMs. See profile for fingerprint.

I've never done it myself. Usually run 2 units per PSU.

I would have figured that if the PSU for the control board tripped it would be the same as a PSU tripping and the unit having to cool down from ambient temps.

Obviously not ideal, but I didn't think this was an added risk of using 2 PSU's
