I upgraded from normal 16x16 and 16x1 risers to three usb 3.0 pci-e risers.
The GPU's /graphic cards are not detected at all with the usb risers. Fans are spinning
Tried with one two and three usb risers. No effect.
Tried in 16 and 1 slot No effect
Reinstalled AMD drivers. No effect

I did no try the jumpstart thing (because the normal pci 16x1 riser works fine)
http://www.gobitgo.com/articles/1001/How-To-Correctly-Use-and-Install-PCI-E-Riser-Cables/

Maybe it is the usb3.0 cable or my motherboard(Asrock z77 pro4 m ) or?
Any help is appreciated.

Go into your BIOS and change the PCI settings to GEN1.

Worked for me on same issue.

Any luck? Exact same thing happened to me and I'm wondering if USB Risers are faulty.

I was using regular powered risers and it was working fine. I switched one of the cards to USB Powered Risers and it doesn't work. I've tried 2 different USB powered risers with same result. Card  is not detected.

I've tried in Asrock 970 Extreme4 and Asrock H61 Pro BTC

Asrock 970 doesn't have any Gen1 setting in BIOS as far as I can tell.

In my case it was the USB cables. 2 out of 3 were faulty. 3rd was just badly connected.
