Well, after a really fast start and getting up to 9000 satoshis, the price is falling fast on cryptsy. I also kept an eye on takeicoin and ultracoin which were just added, and neither have really spiked.

I guess getting added to cryptsy doesn't mean that much short term.

Man claims OST has launched own currency
Council and President taken by surprise
By Brandon Ecoffey
Native Sun News Managing Editor
PINE RIDGE — The Oglala Sioux Tribe supposedly launched its own national currency. However no one bothered to inform Tribal President Bryan Brewer or the Oglala Sioux Tribal Council.
When contacted by Native Sun News President Brewer said that he was unaware of any official move by the tribe to launch a new currency.
“There has been no action taken by the council to approve of a new currency. The economic development office gave a letter of support to Harris to continue to research the industry and that was it. As far as it being an official currency of the tribe that is not true at all. Any action like that would need to go through the council,” said President Brewer.
Last week Forbes Magazine reported that a new currency had been adopted by the Oglala Sioux Tribe and that the new currency was being promoted by Payu Harris and traded on the global market. Forbes claimed that Harris was a member of the tribe, however, there is no one on the rolls named Payu Harris or Payu Kimitsu.

it's not really about how real/fake this coin could be.  Look at all the other crap coins there are that are successful.  I would still hold  tight.

I think it is highly likely that Payu did not get *full approval* from the tribal council.  If he took that approach,  the coin would have never been released.   However, the coin has a very good start,  and if succesful,  approval will be more likely than if he took the conservative approach.

To be honest after this week.. I take everything ... be it bbc, newsweek, forbes, rt or indianz.com say with a pinch of salt!

None of them are worth the paper or pixels they use up- an unfortunate truth of the modern era.

(edit- actually scratch that- forget about this week, the media have been full of bs for decades)

Mazacoin is the only altcoin I'm comfortable buying.

Its the only altcoin that feels * real * out of the latest batches of quick - rich schemes.
If only there was a thread with real time business adoption on the sioux land.  Sorta like coinmap.org

As far as I heard they are not going to seek acception from the US government and to force it. Also they plan to legalise marihuana and use Mazacoin to sell it. Also casino business is getting involved into Mazacoin.

Cryptsy is the deathnell for coins.

There are 2 conflicting interests on opposite sides of the trade - miners and traders. (i.e. people who mined the coin before it went on Cryptsy and people who bought it).

Going on Cryptsy provides miners with the liquidity they need to offload the coin in large quantities - they don't care at what price. So Cryptsy is basically a 'dumping ground' for miners.

Look at the history of any coin from Worldcoin to Maxcoin. Going on Cryptsy is like falling off a cliff. The coin's best days are the one's just before it goes mainstream... http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/period-charts.php?period=alltime&resolution=day&pair=wdc-btc&market=cryptsy

MyFarm, I thought you are a true believer in AUR coin

It seems that all you try to do is to create a hype pump and dump. quite disappointing as I REALLY believe that Auroracoin can bring a change to the Cryptocurrency world
I DO love Auroracoin.  I also love the idea of Mazacoin.  I love the idea of any cryptocurrency becoming widely adopted by any nation.  The sooner that happens, whether it be in Iceland, the Lakota nation, or elsewhere, the sooner we can begin to enact real change in this world.  I don't own much of either coin (most of my money is in Darkcoin right now), this is more a political/moral thing for me.  I like Mazacoin a little more than Auroracoin from the perspective that the Lakota people are EXTREMELY poor and a valuable cryptocurrency could completely change their world.  But believe me, I still very much support Auroracoin Smiley

I can't see how this coin is going to change anything. If it's like the system in Canada, the people are poor because for generations they've been given handouts and become completely dependent. Because of this they probably have zero money management skills. Giving them a coin that's value has been pumped up is just like giving them more free money. They'll see the value and cash out into fiat and piss it away. The only thing that's gonna change things for these people is education and years of rehabilitation back into the real world where people actually have to support themselves. Maybe I'm missing something because this is in the U.S. and could be a different situation.

Just waiting for the bottom of this coin to see how much BTC I've lost. Been a fun ride I'll tell you. This title should read: If you loved making tons on Auroracoin, you'll hate giving it back for Mazacoin!

err but you will only have lost them if you sell your Maza coin..  I do not know your circumstances but if you can hodl, then hodl, and see where we are at in 3, 6, 12 months.  Then if there is still no return then count your loss.. this coin is barely traded yet.

It is ironic that a nation which was forced too give up everything they hold dear...centuries of tradition and heritage...confined too a reservation and spoon fed a new normal can rise from the ashes too create a currency that might be widely accepted! Treaty 1.2...
