I have a stupid question but better to ask then to a bullshit.

I want to dual mine ETH (with Claymore) and XMR (with xmrig-nVidia) on the same time on machine equipped with GTX 1060 6GB.
If the market has dropped i think i can win some more money with this dual minning thing. Do you think I can do it? And if I do it won't screw the GPUs or something else?

I do not have much idea about mining however to help you I googled and found some useful URLs. I hope these will help.

Yes, you can but don't expect double the profits from it.
Hashrate in both the algorithms will be affected severely and expect a lot of instability on both of the instances.
Still, you can give it a try and post your results here for others with the same question.

Use the gpu for mining eth and use the cpu for mining xmr.
Don´t use the dual mining option in claymore. Start claymore or an other software for mining eth on the gpu, then start xmr mining software only for cpu.

CPU is crap (18-22H/sec) this mean an additional 0.5$/month but on the GPU the ETH DAG is only using half of the memory so why I couldn't use the rest of the memory for XMR?

@mdayonliner thank you for the links i will read them latter on
@MATHReX it's a good ideea to start both miners and see if it is working

I have seen people saying that Monero (XMR) uses up so much GPU's resources that dual mining would just be impractical.

ETH is hungry for memory but GPU's cores are not used much so dual mining can be executed.

Not my thought/idea, just a possible answer I have seen before to similar question Smiley

The bottle neck is memory bandwith, not the memory size.

Very much possible if you can balance the bandwidth and instability in hash rate caused by the process. But I like learning new things, give it a try and give feedback too

It is very possible but come to think of it what's is actually the essence of this dual mining , is it to maximise the profit or to minimise consumption of electricity

I think if mining together is likely to crash, so it's best not to duplicate it, but it's your decision to mine, maybe doing a lot of experiments like you do will make you more experienced in mining more coins besides ETH and XMR.

I think its just better to mine 1 coin than dual because it will affect the Hashrate if you will make a dual mining. Before i mine dual mining with ETH and SIA but go back to just mining ETH its much better to mine just 1 coin

No idea why this post got bumped. But I have actually tried this in the past so I will contribute.

Basically you cant effectively mine both ETH and XMR since they are both memory intensive algos. However out of pure fun I tried to do this with an R9 280X and R9 290 and RX 470 4GB, this was about 2 years back.

I found that you actually lost money doing it on an R9 280X or RX 470 4GB, however with some tweaking I managed to get it to work with the R9 290. Basically it resulted in maybe 10% more profit, because the ETH was slowed a little but it still managed to mine XMR at a decent speed. However after a few hours it usually crashed anyways and I just gave up.

Someone also tried this on a AMD Nano Fury GPU and they also had it work. However the profit potential just isn't there since they both require loads of memory. And this was with original XMR algo, not the new CN R algo which was released a month ago.

the conclusion is that now to be able to do mining, you really need to really know what is needed and how the right way to mining, don't buy mining equipment and machines that are expensive but not profitable when used.
