You could have made this more clear on the actual site, deposited 70vtc I desperately needed to sell and now I'm fucked.

I'm guessing that in the coming days we will all learn how fucked we are (or aren't)

Poloniex just tweeted:
"Deposits credited since announcement will be temporarily reversed to avoid unfair deductions. They will be reprocessed soon."

It would take 5 minutes for "Tristan" to put up a notice on the poloniex website regarding the situation, and regarding deposits/withdrawls.

Why has this not yet been done to avoid this ^^^^^ frustration?

No actual refunds has been given for BTC deposited after the incident. I'll believe it when I see it. And we can breath a short sigh of relief when the above parties have their funds back. (Assuming that all those deposits will have been refunded and not just those of the persons who happen to post here or on http://poloniex.freshdesk.com/support/discussions/forums/1000078491 like coinmarket did to keep the con game going)

Thanks for being clear about the recent deposits, and that they should not be deducted. Nothing less than that would be reasonable. Thanks for being reasonable.

However, I would like to make sure that I not only do not lose any of my 10BTC, but also, that they would be withdrawable immediately, or sent back to me immediately. There is no reason to keep them locked up anymore, and there is no reason to delay their refund. I would like to be able to withdraw them immediately, or have them sent back to me immediately on the address I sent them from.

Please send them back and confirm. Thank you.

About recent deposits--it really wouldn't be fair to deduct deposits made after the BTC was taken. Obviously I should have posted a notice on the Balances page, but it is not difficult to make an exception for recent deposits.

I was not aware of this theft, and I stupidly sent in 10 BTC about 7 hours after your twitter announcement

https://blockchain.info/address/16CBhYouzdB4xgxeZ76RjF8wBRimtvMB2k

https://twitter.com/Poloniex/status/440734781689446400

I expect to get the entire 10BTC balance back, and NOT 12.3% less, as I would've expected you to block deposits as well, or at least put up a sign on the front page of the site waring about the hack.

Please confirm that you agree and will do so. Thank you.

If trying to save people from losing their hard-earned money is annoying then I suppose you can go fix yourself.

How many more people must be frustrated because the OP isn't doing what he should be doing before you do just that? (See above if you don't think it's happening now.. and that's just the people who bother to post)

The truth hurts, I suppose. Problem is, we don't know what that is yet. But something sure does stink in here. And the funny thing is that some of you ^ think it's me! Don't shoot the messenger. Just pointing out the obvious.

When you get too emotionally attached to a STOCK or a COIN or an EXCHANGE, you get burned. (Or at least, offended)

Looks like Polo is going to die off like C-CEX has.

They better unlock my coins soon!

DarkCoin - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615 - DarkCoin aims to be the first privacy-centric cryptographic currency with fully encrypted transactions and anonymous block transactions.

I think I should have a poll to determine how to pay the funds back. Here are the options I'm thinking:

1. Pay back over time with exchange fees.
2. Same as #1, but raise fees to expedite.
3. Sell shares of Poloniex to cover the debt; dividends paid regularly.
4. Award such shares to everyone immediately and consider that repayment.

Here's my vote:

Start with 3. You may get more interest in this option than you currently can imagine, especially if you hire a recognised external security consultant to help you review the code.

If still needed after 3 go with option 2, but raise fees moderately so that you don't kill the exchange.

Please also consider my earlier proposal:

Quote
How about raising enough money to create an "insurance fund" that will be available for those users who are willing to accept a slightly higher trading fee than uninsured users?

You would keep this fund in cold storage and it would be completely transparent on the blockchain for everyone to verify. It would only be used to reimburse those accounts that had paid the higher trading fee in case of another hack of the exchange. By making it voluntary it doesn't hurt anyone who doesn't want to pay the extra fee, and as the income from the insurance premiums increase so will the level of insurance.

This will make Poloniex the first exchange where user funds are insured. Perhaps you could even make the funds on that cold storage account multisignature with 2 trusted members from the community, that way anyone who doubts your integrity will feel a lot safer as well...

As Biomech commented earlier:

Quote
So long as the insurance is voluntary, either paid by the exchange holder or the individual investor, then it's not only not a problem, it should encourage trade.
