6 sendable merit left [regular merit boost feature needed]

I two or three days I won't have any merit left. I am not asking for more merit here.

But i think that after some time users should get a new bunch of merit that can be sent. They dont have to count for the ranking up or dont have to be displayed.

Because I will miss a forum feature very soon.

That's what merit sources are for.

If everyone got fresh sMerits, there would be no reason to even have the merit system since people would be sending it to their alts or selling it.  Merit sources are presumably responsible, and that's why they took on the task of giving merits to members who deserve it.  That's why not everyone can be a merit source.  That's why you have to apply to be one.

I would suggest you to focus on earning some merits. This will get you 1:1/2 ratio sMerits.

You can also apply for a merit source if you want to.

Just some friendly suggestions by the way.

If you're here primarily to "chat" (which I take as posting mostly for social interaction or for the sake of it) then why would you need such feature in the first place? You don't need smerits to chat.

Agree for you to become merit source.  We are in need of more merit source and if you are active and diligent enough to look for posts worthy of merit then go and apply for being a merit source - this will greatly help the community.

That's a really bad idea OP as it will defeat the entire purpose of Merit System. Abusers and spammers will surely rejoice if your idea was applied. I also ran out of sMerits few days ago but if I were you I will try to make good posts instead of making horrible suggestion like this which will only result to a never-ending Merit abuse. If you want to get sMerits, well your only choice is either to apply and get accepted as a Merit Source or try to make quality posts like everybody else were doing and trying, then you'll receive Merits for sure.

Are you aware that only spammers and abusers will suggest such an idea?

I don't even understand what you're trying to say here.  This is why you're on my ignore list.

If your suggestion really implemented, the merit system and current rank requirements will be destroyed due to merit distribution abusements.
I don't think forum users will support your ideas (of course, except spammers), and @Theymos will never implement it.
Automatically distributed merits for specific period of time. It also means that forum users won't have to contribute anything to the forum, wait patiently for a while before getting new merits and new sMerits, it will not make any difference with old rank system which only focuses on activity counts.

That's the point. Merits and sMerits only worthy for ranking up. Real contributors will not pay their attention on Merits and sMerits. They will mainly focus on their ideas when composing threads, when joining disucssions, when help others with their unique ideas (only sometimes), helpful ideas (most of the time).

I'm guessing you are looking for something more along the lines of a "like" button. This is not really a merit issue more a forum feature you would like to see. I doubt it's something Admins would concern themselves with implementing, but in the meantime you could just tell the user you like their post, or PM them.

I can agree that in some instances a nice chat can turn into a good discussion. This should be done in the appropriate sections and remain on-topic.

You may also feel you do not receive merit because members in some areas do not bother themselves with merit distribution. If you feel you are meriting a forgotten section of users, then by all means apply to become a source. This covers how to apply

I think you're talking about the previously discussed topic of dMerits (delegate merits) invented by Jet Cash or am I missing something here?

Adding a member to your ignore list is nothing to do with their rank. However, if a member was ignored by another member doesn't mean anything that others should follow the crowd. The decision of ignoring a member is dependent on that particular member only. But we can get an idea about that member if she/he is already in a ignore list of reputable forum members like @The Pharmacist

At first, when the system was implemented, I thought the same as OP, but soon after I realized it would not be a good idea. I still would like to have more merits to send, so at some point I may apply to be a merit source. Jet Cash's idea is very good as well but the problem is, it is another great idea that won’t get implemented or it will take ages.

OP, that's the whole idea of the merit system.

After some time, all the initial merit users received would have been depleted and only the merit sources would get more merit to distribute among the members which deserve them.
You will also get sMerit if you receive merit from someone else. For example, if you get 10 merits from somebody, you'll have 5 sMerits to send to other users.

I agree it has become increasingly hard to receive merit (users doing good quality posts do not receive merit anymore - Has the Merit faucet dried up? Solutions? ), if this is where you're trying to go with your question, but you're an established member and may apply to be a merit source.

I actually agree with you that chatting is not spamming but not all chats are constructive enough to generate merits. You have a good deal of experience, might be you can create some good topics .(Look like JetCash always in search of it). He is also trying to figure out for some challenge in which he can award some 50 merits to Hero member, might be you can team up with him to lay the foundation of the challenge and help the community and yourself to earn some decent merits.

It will be a bad change if everyone can regenerate merits even if it is just by a little bit, for one account farmers who have dozens of accounts can will thrive in this change and obviously take advantage of this feature and they maybe have the power to rank each other up without needing the merits of other people. If the merits of regular users are being played out now there will be more abuse if this happens which I really don't want to happen here in the forum. They won't even effort anymore to write a good post since they know everyone can regenerate merits now.

Unless regular sMerit refill is very low (1-3 sMerit/month, depends on rank with Full Member/higher as minimum requirement), your idea would be abused easily and there's almost no point of merit source.

I don't think your suggestion is a good one.
It might lead to massive abusements on merit system and current rank requirements.
Slowly automatic distributed merits based on ranks will not make any sense in terms of controlling spamming endemics in the forum.
It might only delay the pace of ranking up a bit slower, but I believe that if the new distributional mechanism of merits implemented, it will allow spammers ranking up much faster than current ones.

In a nutshell, I don't support your suggestion.

If you can tell a big difference on chatting and spamming, could you tell the different between a great post which deserve merit and bad post which is not? If you can, then make an application to be a merit source by finding 10 undermeritted good posts. At least you can be a merit source for your local board.

If the merits can refill after every cycle then there is no point on having the merit system,but now we can see not all the good posts got merited so the number of merit sources need to be increased and need to have separate merit amount as per the board according to the active users for that respective board,then all the good posters can get merited the rest will stay forever!
