Because I’m a goddamn idiot. I’m too trusting. I’m a noob member here. I’ve been a member for a while, but really only lurked. I figured, I don’t know, that they wouldn’t want to deal with me if I was just going to require escrow…

And then I got burned earlier selling via PayPal too.

And then again with a gift card code that didn’t work. *sigh*

Always check Trust, even the Hidden Trust. Follow any Reference links.

I know, it’s all my fault, I’m not asking for handouts or begging. I’m just saying I got scammed, don’t worry.

I was just naive. I’m a kindhearted fool sometimes, when I should be more of a hardass. It’s just hard for me. *sighs* I’ll only do escrow from now on.

Scammers are ruining the marketplace with this shit.  I'll offer my services as escrow for free just to help combat this crap.  Mods, I'll be happy to submit any information about my personal identity, where I work - whatever.  We've got to get more trusted people around here to keep the scammers locked out.

pizza, I would not think telling the mechanics of how he got scammed would be a good idea, only post things that a buyer should be doing if purchasing no matter what, that would be things that would prevent it from happening again. Sounds like Escrow was the way to go, and if he did refuse to us it, realized that  you did not lose a chance to get what you want, what you DID lose was a chance to get RIPPED OFF, and move on.

I know we are conditioned from child hood not to think like that with the old story of sour grapes and all but in this case it is true like 90% or more of the time. (probably closer to 99.99% lol) really sorry to hear about this  OP Sad

***edit, the reason I say not to post about the mechanics, is we dont need scammers being schooled on how to scam here, so that any one that did NOT read this, would be unaware of the scam and now have a bunch more scammers on the market hunting them down. Sad

There were no true “mechanics” of the scam. All it was was I wanted an iPhone 5s, he offered me an iPhone 5s, and I paid him for it…

Naively trusting a “long-time” member with “a lot of posts”. I was foolish and I didn’t use escrow. I’m just so… so silly. I’ve lost 5btc to scams recently, either on Localbitcoins, here, or elsewhere.

It seems almost everyone messaging the “newer” members (and I’m not a NEW member, I just lurk instead of post mostly…

I’m sorry, everyone. I should’ve used an escrow. I’m really so sorry.

@ionux
That’s so kind of you. Thank you. I’m sure that will help people a lot too. I just hope they’re not like me and they actually take advantage of this.
